Vicious predator like wolves? They are part of a naturally functioning ecosystem. They have a place in this world and have a role to fill. Think of what some of their natural prey is. Hint - we have plenty of them in Wake county, and they have 4 legs and a white tail.

  • veyor Nov 9, 4:49 p.m.

You have to be in an ivory tower so tall that you are oxygen deprived to introduce a vicious predator like wolves. We have little boys and girls that are totally removed from reality running the place.

"How lame. Eat the dead wolf and then I'll agree with you."

    You missed the point.

  • feistyredhead2001 Nov 9, 4:20 p.m.

I am in full agreement, if its some animal or my son.... the animal or human is going down ! But now a days ( since we all don't live in a little house on the prairie )... children are at home, in bed getting ready for school or work. So really... dont use protection as an excuse to just hunt what ever!

  • Skywatch_NC Nov 9, 3:53 p.m.

So teaching them that your family's survival and well being is important ...is lame ...wow!

"Just stop shooting everything...one day the very guns that shoot these animals will accidentally take a human life." jscott13

Well, thats good to know. Thank you for informing me of that, fine fellow. Ill be sure to let my guns at home know that someday they will accidentally take a human life because someone on the internet says so.

"I understand that the wolf in general and the fox may be attacking your cattle, chickens, even family pets.... but if you know an animal is an endangered Species and yu still take its life, then what are you telling the children of our future?"

Hmmm. Let's see. Maybe you are teaching them that your family's survival and well being is more important than an animal given a label by the feds?

    +1 ++

The wildlife commission needs to stop allowing hunting of coyote in red wolf recovery areas.
    notyou

Bingo. People aren't out there shooting red wolves... they think they're shooting coyotes. You can't tell a difference between the two until their already dead.

Just stop shooting everything...one day the very guns that shoot these animals will accidentally take a human life. Then where will you be...in jail probably. Killing any living thing is wrong and the people who do this may not be judged in this life, but they will be in the next!!

" I hope that catch the one responsible and he or she does 1 year in jail !" - feistyredhead2001

They don't even give child molesters that much time. Now if you did something truly dastardly like smoking a joint they might, but there is no way somebody is getting a year for killing some mangy mutt.

  • Hans Nov 9, 2:03 p.m.

Oh for Pete's sake, who cares about these glorified mongrels? Stop wasting our tax money with this nonsense.

Some one out there knows who did this, again this is sad, so come forth and turn them in, do whats right, and if you dont need the money give it to a charity.

  • paultaylorsr100 Nov 9, 1:07 p.m.

    Hmmmmmm, very judgmental.

  • lescar19 Nov 9, 1:07 p.m.

There was a law passed recently allowing night hunting of coyotes. Coyotes and red wolves look very similar. It's likely this death was an accidental shooting from someone who thought he/she was shooting a coyote.

That law is bad news for red wolves and the wildlife commission should never have passed it in the first place.

  • slayerhil Nov 9, 1:02 p.m.

"The wildlife commission needs to stop allowing hunting of coyote in red wolf recovery areas."

I was thinking the same thing since these animals look very similar. It could be a case of misidentification. Regardless, that doesn't mean it should go unpunished.

  • twatkinsntp Nov 9, 12:27 p.m.

The people that would do this are the same ones that shoot 75-100 deer a year.....most live in the eastern part of the state......nothing but outlaws that think that killing more deer than they are allowed makes them some sort of big man.

  • ripetomatoes Nov 9, 12:16 p.m.

Somebody in or around Creswell, NC knows who did this. Anybody who shoots an animal like this one is usually a blabbermouth who brags to their friends.
You don't need to shoot something just because you've got your gun with you.
This is the same type of person that shoots your dog when it goes by their deer stand.
Turn him in, he'd roll over on you for $2500 reward.
