"That is $80 per foot of walkway....really?" pm2

That doesn't sound bad. Have you had an estimate on concrete work lately? Of course, it's all in how it's managed. If they give it to a low-bid, minority company it will have to be re-done within a couple of years and if they give it to a union company, it will cost ten times that much before it's done...What to do, what to do. It's a dilemma.

Have there been complaints? or is cary just trying how to spend their millions of tax revenue?

"So we would rather spend money on side walks than fix the roads? Ok....whatever..." - CAVELADY2

Yeah, believe it or not, not everyone drives everywhere. Some of us would rather walk the half mile to the super market than drive each time we need to go to the mailbox. And where are these so called "bad roads" in Cary? I grew up in NYC. We had pot holes that could swallow a Volkswagon. Where do you see major pot holes in Cary that are going unrepaired for long periods of time?

There is not a single sidewalk in my 40 year old neighbourhood.

This is great and is needed but could they work on the roads that most people travel. So many potholes and re-painting of the lines in the road are so necessary. When it's dark and rainy, it's hard to know if you are on your side of the road.

The could have done it without adding a tax increase and more debt. They've had a park and rec budget that has been adding sidewalks and trails for decades.

I happen to know of a couple of Cary residents that get around their home, within a mile or two, in a motorized chair. This sidewalk work is VERY needed by them and more.

I support this and believe that this effort is long overdue.
