because their paymasters stand to make a fortune out of wrecking it.
It doesn't matter to them as they can simply move to the caymans with the cash and leave us the mess.

Reading these comments is a good reminder why I cannot abide most Republicans, at least those who post on WRAL. Throw those white sheets over your heads again.

Gov. Bev Perdue has kept NC at the top where it counts. We'll have to wait and see if our new governor can keep us there.

Where did we say it was all good?....and even if Obama behaved in the same way. how would that make having Pope in NC gov right? Two wrongs don't make a right.

babbleon::::Prove that donations don't mean cronyism.

Are you talking about for democrats or Republicans? Seems to me that when the donations go to someone like, say, obama, it's all good. When they go to a Republican, the Republican is being bought off, bribed, and so on down the line. With democrats, it's all good. You hypocrits make me sick.

DENR is so important to NC in protecting our water, air and ground . The Republicans want to limit DENR's powers to do so, all for the love of the almighty and " temporary" dollar fix for our economy. Lets start with Fracking, not sure how many of you realize it but IF it does boost our economy it will be a temp. fix at best, shale gas IS a NON RENEWABLE RESOURCE . Limit what DENR can do then we also will have deregulation of factory emissions, hog farm spills, etc. ... the list goes on and on . God help us all , we will be able thank the republicans when we no longer have clean water to drink .

An association with Bev other than transition is not a good idea. There are many in this state who have not cared for her style of leadership. Association with her sure hurt Walter Dalton in his election bid for Gov.

    Art Pope's business model:

    1) Inherit money.
    2) Hire poor people at minimum wage with no benefits.
    3) Sell cheap Chinese goods to poor people.
    4) Get even richer.
    5) Buy political influence to pay less taxes, get even richer.

"Why do liberals hate Art Pope?" I am both a moderate and a native of North Carolina, and I have no use for Art Pope. As a moderate, I belive extremes in either direction, left or right, are toxic. Art Pope is about as extreme right wing as it gets. I understand the North Carolina voter's backlash to the Democratic machine that controlled the state for so long. This machine had become very corrupt and deviated from the best interest of the people of the state. However, I fear the pendulum has swung too far to the right. If McCrory fails to control the extreme right wingers in his party, the result could be incredibly destructive to both the economy of the state and the qualilty of life North Carolinians have enjoyed.

"forget about a relationship with THE WORST Governor to EVER SERVE the state of NC"
Worst ever? Really? Before her term is over, you're already ranking her dead last of all-time?
Is it mere coincidence that she also happens to be the only female governor NC has ever had? Seriously, I'm really asking, and not rhetorically. You are aware of the narrative emerging on the national stage about how the GOP is out of touch w/ women and every minority, right? How it needs to stop being the party of old White males if it hopes to remain relevant, right? You might want to check yourself w/ how loosely you toss around such extreme labels, and not just b/c it's politically wise, but b/c it's a step toward being a more decent human being, too.

  • cookie998 Nov 8, 7:45 p.m.

WHY is he getting exec security with car and driver 2 months early??????
his 1st action is to suck out money from the state.

  • jackflash123 Nov 8, 7:44 p.m.

NC Republicans are justified in feeling buoyed by the state returns Tuesday, but they're fools if they don't learn something from the national results. Remember how President Obama came out in support of gay marriage right as we were unnecessarily and spitefully putting it in our Constitution w/o a shred of Christian compassion for our neighbors? That was the last hurrah for an agenda of judgment and hatred. Get on board, GOP, or see how badly you're crushed in '14 and '16.
