Democrats are now the party of the athiests, gays, lesibans, transgenders, welfare recipients, Food Stamp acceptors, baby killers and those who do not contribute to the economy. For the first time in our nations history, the takers have out numbered and vote the makers (those that contribute by seeking to better their lives with hard work, paying taxes and fearing God). Yes you can continue this free ride a little longer by taxing theose who make it and giving it to those that take it, but sooner or latter the well will run dry. Look at Greece today and you will see where we are heading. 25% general unemployment, 50% for young people. High inflation, lawlessness and vigulantes roaming the streets. Not a pretty picture when the gravy train runs out.

it really doesn't matter who is in power in this state it just seems corruption always wins....lets see how long it takes before its shows up this time.......

  • NCHighlander Nov 9, 8:19 a.m.

I for one am proud of NC and the 52 percent of decent voters who won this election. We have reached a majority in the nation who have proven to lack moral decency and expect others to feed and provide for them.
The hardships that America face now are well deserved and voted for. America voted against jobs and for welfare. It voted for gay marriage in this election. It voted for abortion to be used as a routine contraception on those who won't take personal responsibility for becoming pregnant.
We are now Europe. Hope the libs, gays, and African Americans who pushed Obama over the 50% mark are happy in the future.

    Democrats will distroy the USA

  • Damien Thorne Nov 8, 4:54 p.m.

    "War on abortion"

A country that values the life of a soldier trained to kill over an innocent child.

    "War on contraceptives"

I already pay for my spouses contraception, you want to force me at gunpoint to pay for someone elses?

"War on gay marriage (Government has no business being involved with marriage to begin with)"

No such thing, perhaps if they wanted something like marriage they could present it and get it. Try to force it? Not smart. But it will not be called marriage, get your own title.

"Trying to control personal relationships and make it illegal for an unmarried couple to cohabitate Trying to make laws that force businesses to close on Sunday Trying to ban alcohol on Sunday Trying to ban hunting on Sunday Trying to ban drugs (prohibition never works)"----dcatz

Perhaps you lost the fact that all of that was done by Democrats? Do you understand that fact?

  • lec02572 Nov 8, 4:49 p.m.

This is just the star. After all their "good ole boy club" is being dismantled. I guess the board of elections will change in numbers soon.

  • skinnyCat Nov 8, 4:47 p.m.

Now the challenge of being in total and absolute control. Sometimes its just easier to be the attack dog.

  • whatelseisnew Nov 8, 4:43 p.m.

"Well Paultaylor maybe you don't mind the government telling you who you can sleep with or what you can do with your body, but I do. I guess that I am just not as big on government regulation as you are."

The government is not telling you what to do with your body. They are also not telling you who you can sleep with. I know the lefties have convinced you of that nonsense, but it is not the case. All I ask is that if you are going to kill babies, please pay for it and stop forcing me to pay for it.

  • whatelseisnew Nov 8, 4:42 p.m.

For the party of "limited government", you guys sure want the government to control every aspect of people's live

Sorry but it is the left that does that. YOU are trying to force people to accept same-sex marriage by force of law. People are now FORCEd to buy health insurance. People are forced to pay for others to kill babies. Oh want to smoke,,, well now,,, sure we want to tax the snot out of the product, but we are going to force you to smoke where we tell you to do it. I am being FORCED to pay for buses and trains. I don't use them, but so what, why should the people that use them pay for them. Lefties forced me to pay for Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security. I do not want nor did I request ANY of that. 15 percent of my lifetime income STOLEN for three bankrupt programs. Now I am forced to pay even more so the people being forced to obtain health insurance can pay for it. Oh and I so enjoy being forced to pay for food, housing, and phones, for the beggar class.

  • jrfergerson Nov 8, 3:46 p.m.

The Democrats brought this on themselves with all their lies, coverups and the such - now it is pay the piper.

  • Mr. Middle of the Road Nov 8, 3:35 p.m.

Well Paultaylor maybe you don't mind the government telling you who you can sleep with or what you can do with your body, but I do. I guess that I am just not as big on government regulation as you are.

"I guess the seven out of ten North Carolinians who voted for the marriage amendment must be the silent majority? Maybe you should listen to them?"

It wasn't 7 out of 10 North Carolinas. It was 7 out of 10 of the 30% of North Carolinians who bothered to show up to the polls. 70% of 30% does not a majority make.

    ""Victorian-era morals" you say."

I wasn't referring to welfare (It is wrong to steal money from one person and give it to another).

I was referring to the constant :

    War on abortion
    War on contraceptives
War on gay marriage (Government has no business being involved with marriage to begin with)
Trying to control personal relationships and make it illegal for an unmarried couple to cohabitate
Trying to make laws that force businesses to close on Sunday
Trying to ban alcohol on Sunday
Trying to ban hunting on Sunday Trying to ban drugs (prohibition never works)

For the party of "limited government", you guys sure want the government to control every aspect of people's live

  • paultaylorsr100 Nov 8, 3:19 p.m.

"Victorian-era morals" you say. So, what's wrong with if you do a crime you WILL get punished. You work you WILL get to eat. You want to sit on the porch and swat at flies, you WILL get hungry! You want a house, WORK for it. It's not like today where half of society feels entitled to what the other half has.

  • paultaylorsr100 Nov 8, 3:13 p.m.

Maybe the neighborhood where you live abortion and two men sleeping together is OK but, it's not in mine!!! And I'm a majority of ONE!

  • The Yoda Nov 8, 2:33 p.m.

The majority of Americans are not interested in banning abortion or hating on gays and trying to return everyone to Victorian-era morals is only going to cause people to vote Democrat. The Republicans won nationally in 2010 precisely because they shut up about social issues and focused on the economy. says dcatz

I guess the seven out of ten North Carolinians who voted for the marriage amendment must be the silent majority? Maybe you should listen to them?

  • The Yoda Nov 8, 2:28 p.m.

Democrats say the power shift doesn't reflect a mandate from North Carolina voters. Instead, they say, new voting maps that produced Republican-friendly districts and enormous amounts of campaign spending were to blame for the seats they lost in state government.

I guess it was the voting maps that caused everyone to vote against the same-sex amendment?

  • ncwolf08 Nov 8, 2:20 p.m.

Sorry, Senator Blue, redistricting had nothing to do with these elections results...we were just fed up with the state's "good ole boy" way of doing things. I have been a die-hard Democrat for 40 years, but I voted a split ticket this year, as I am sure a lot of other Democrats did because we are just tired of the mess our state is in.

Our state song goes, "Carolina, Carolina, heaven's blessings attend her, while we live we will cherish, protect and defend her...". Well, as I see it, you guys haven't done such a good job of that in quite a long time.

  • NC_interest Nov 8, 1:10 p.m.

The GOP is not smart enough to avoid social issues. We will all be the target of National scruitiny when they go on some hair brained religious related, abortion related, or gay related tilt. Then everyone will have a rethink and vote them out.

if the GOP is smart and sticks to Government, economy , and education, and avoid corruption they will do OK. However their redrawn districs are not very democratic, and are more social engineering, so I expect that they don't feel like they can survive in a balanced argument. Therefor the GOP will probably fail.

  • Mr. Middle of the Road Nov 8, 12:18 p.m.

The party needs lots of self examination. The far left puts its agenda's before the agenda of the greater part of the party. And the turmoil at teh state headquarters is unacceptable. The GOP didn't win the last 2 elections, we lost.

  • robbyh Nov 8, 11:28 a.m.

Democrats will work as hard as they can to take it away... Why didn't they work that hard to keep it?

  • Rebelyell55 Nov 8, 10:34 a.m.

We will see how it goes in another four years. Just hope the damage ain't too bad. Ya'll be careful out there and have a great day!!

  • Viewer Nov 8, 9:36 a.m.

"NC Democrats face long road back to power"? Fortune telling by a news organization is inappropriate.

It can change back in one or two election cycles if the NC republicans drop the ball.

  • dcatz Nov 8, 8:12 a.m.

The democrats gerrymandered the districts for years and now they complain?

Sorry, but, what goes around comes around.

That being said, if the Republicans wish to hold on to power, they need to SHUT UP about social issues. The majority of Americans are not interested in banning abortion or hating on gays and trying to return everyone to Victorian-era morals is only going to cause people to vote Democrat. The Republicans won nationally in 2010 precisely because they shut up about social issues and focused on the economy.

  • tonybigman3 Nov 7, 7:03 p.m.

i hope they never get back we need to get rid of obamacare.

  • miseem Nov 7, 6:30 p.m.

One solution may be to sack the current state democratic party leadership. Hard to get win a game(i.e. win elections) when the team doesn't trust the captain, they are too busy covering up problems and squabbling, and they generate absolutely no enthusiasm from their supporters. They have been so wrapped up in themselves that they could not attract a crowd even if they were providing a free dinner and a $50 gas card. Of course, that would be vote buying.
