Hope she leaves most of the towels and silverware when she leaves

I hope Food stamps and Medicaid is reeled in and people who pay no taxes but work and do not leave a peper trail are caught. Also that NC stops paying for Aliens to have babies. If they get pregnant they should be able to pay their own OB and Hospital delivery care.

  • sunneyone2 Nov 7, 12:16 p.m.

Also, I find it laughable that people are complaining about the Democrats making backroom deals while lauding a Republican being voted in. Do you not see that this is just as bad? Do you not realize that those historical Democrats would be members of the Republican party today? The "Dixiecrats" of days gone by migrated to the Republican party starting with Strom Thurmond in the 1940s. They ran the Republicans of the time out of the party and over to the Democratic party. Same policies and beliefs, different label.

futhermore I am paying for the employees that administer the retirement program, 3 of those employees make, they do not earn almost $1.5 million dollars combined yearly.

If they were so great at their job, the fund should pay their saleries, and how many more work in that group that are being paid by the TAX PAYERS

Quit pamper yourself with warm and fuzzies, and learn the truth

  • sunneyone2 Nov 7, 12:09 p.m.

Fracking will not make the state self sufficient. The state cannot process whatever is harvested. That will be whatever company he sells us out to. What we'll wind up doing is having to clean up the mess the frackers leave behind.
He is going to destroy our beautiful state.

For you all that somehow don't think the tax payers are funding the state retirement program, use your fingers, a calculator what ever you have - 6% before taxes into the fund will not under any circumstances yeild 75% of your base pay at retirement.

I don't care if you pay into the fund for 100 years, the simple numbers do not work.

Where do you think that money is coming from? Its mana from heaven

You need to get your facts straight

  • Lamborghini Mercy Nov 7, 12:00 p.m.

Damien Thorne - You FAIL to understand. Government stimulus means more of our money taken away. If a job needs to go away then so be it. How does getting rid of a job costing $$$ and paying out unemployment $ cost even more money? Perhaps you should try that math again.

what good is cutting a deficit if it causes 30% unemployment rates? Who do you think pays for that? And At the end of the day, people's lives are far more important than plus and minus figures. If you cut jobs, who's creating jobs?

  • ymcmdb63 Nov 7, 11:50 a.m.

So happy, maybe I will not have to hear about Education, why use all our tax dollars on education, when there are no jobs for ALL the children who have received an education whether college, trade, or those who use the system with WIC and Food stamps and medicaid. McCrory bring jobs...education doesn't keep you from breaking in a home or robbery..lack of jobs does

"The state does have a balanced budget every year but it also issues bonds and currently has like $6 billion in bonds on the books, which cost about $750 million per year to service. So not nothing, but that still leaves plenty of room to cut spending."

Yep - that is how bonds work. BUT that absolutely is not someplace where you can cut spending. Those bonds paid for road and building construction. ie it is already spent. There is nothing a new governor or legislature can do about that. The ONLY thing they can cut is current services.

"1st thing - Voter ID, second thing - get out of debt." - jlhpcarew

I believe the integrity of our voting system is one of the top issues facing North Carolina. Once people lose faith in the election system then they lose faith in democracy. People must have confidence that one person-one vote applies universally, and that fraud is not stealing elections.

The first step in fixing this problem is to require picture Voter Ids when voting. This will align us with the policies of the majority of other democratic countries on the face of the earth.

  • bill0 Nov 7, 10:58 a.m.

"Unfortunately, the Dems buried us in debt so cutting taxes is unlikely, but he can and should do massive spending cuts. that will not happen either."

Over the years teh democrats provided good progressive leadership for this state which made it attractive for living and for business. But I think recently they got complacent and slipped. I am ok giving Pat McCrory and the GOP a chance. I voted Pat, and support him. I hope 100 years from now our ancestors say,'he was a great governor and kept NC one of the best and most progressive states in the country.' Good luck Pat.

Bev Perdue "ended" the good ol' boy demorat strangle hold on NC politics and handed NC to the republicans in the national election as well....she should be given NC's highest honor...cause it is the BEST thing she EVER did while in office....Thanks Bev..!!!!!

  • katious0ne Nov 7, 10:53 a.m.

North Carolina is pretty dumb for going red for Romney and McCrory. Thankfully, the majority of our country made NC's stupidity inconsequential, as Obama crushed Romney. Unfortunately, NC will be still be stupid. Too bad there are so many hicks here. Thankfully, my county, Wake, and my country proved to be smarter than to be fooled by overexposure due to Citizen's United. (=

How amusing. 100 years of Dem control. K5-K12 doing poorly, massive debt, crumbling infrastructure and now inflicted with toll road. Tax increase after tax increase after tax increase along with all the borrowing.
Now maybe the Reps won't do any better, but they have total control, so they can not blame others if they fail, although Obama did and it worked out just fine for him.

  • beef Nov 7, 10:47 a.m.

We cannot count on the feds to help, but maybe we can finally do something at the state level to fix the broken economy in NC. Congratulations Governor-Elect McCrory!!

She's also planning on selling or giving away Dorothea Dix campus where state offices are and move those employees to a place the state would rent... -nic

Now that is just plain stupid. I don't know all of the details, but in this instance, If the state owns the property, it should keep it, turn it into a park, or give it to NCSU.

"Stephen----best comment on here by far!!! 100% agree. The election is over. Now we really need to somehow see both sides come together, just sadly dont see it happening based on the last 12 years."

It can't. Oh they can do some horse-trading around the edges, but the differences are just too fundamental. If you are a conservative and you believe in smaller Government, you are not going to find too many Democrats in Washington that will agree with you on that principal. Unfortunately for all of us, the republicans have never delivered on the smaller government part. The Dems want to grow it and they sure have delivered on that. The biggest laugh for me in all of this insanity was watching the Dems complain about Bushes spending. Once upon a time Obama complained about Bushes spending, one of the few things I agreed with, but as it turned out he was only upset because it was a republican doing the spending.

  • whatelseisnew Nov 7, 10:37 a.m.

"pappybigtuna1 - "The conditioning mental view is, if it is broke, throw more money at it."

What you don't understand the Democrat mantra. Its broken, spend more money, its still broken, spend more money, its still broken, spend more money... the never-ending saga. Oh yeah and I forgot the part where they raise taxes while at the same time pretending they are cutting spending. Cutting the rate of growth of spending is not a cut.
