I bet that was an illegally obtained gun... no amount of gun control would have prevented this.

Too many cars too killing people too. Should we outlaw cars?

That's a false equivalency. Cars certainly serve a purpose other than hurting/injuring/killing someone. Guns are tool used specifically for that reason.

I am praying for you Mom and your family. I had one son in my Sunday School class whom was the perfect example of a well behaved child. Emily will be missed by all. Love you.

Rabbitdog - "Alcohol. Don't forget alcohol. We need to ban that to."

Yeap, and stupidity. We need to ban that too. And people who do idiotic things for no rational reason.

    Let's see, what else?

  • Hasbeen Nov 5, 4:28 p.m.

Folks, the car analogy is not valid for the 100th time! A cars purpose is to transport. Accidents and deaths do occur as an ancillary risk to the use of cars. Guns are designed to kill humans and animals (and shoot at stuff for fun, yeehaa). They have NO NO NO other purpose. It is whay they are called lethal weapons-to kill. A car could be used lethally, but, it is not defined as a weapon. Alcohol, fat foods, smoking etc are all choices of things that have other uses. Their INTENDED use is not to KILL!!! Sheesh...

You may be shock to know how many homes have loaded guns, pistols, shot guns laying around their homes and not locked or lock up. That is indeed sad waiting for tragedy to happen.

Alcohol. Don't forget alcohol. We need to ban that to.

    Rabbitdog

CARS AND ALCOHOL IS NOT THE CAUSE. ITS THE "PEOPLE" OR "PERSON" THAT IS DRIVING THE CARS AND ABUSING THE ALCOHOL. ANY MORE EXCUSES?

  • charmcclainlovesdogs2 Nov 5, 4:13 p.m.

Just wondering how the 15 year old feels now that he has been told that she died? Now he know he should not have had that loaded gun in his hand pulling the trigger.

So sad. Another senseless death. RIP young one!

  • charmcclainlovesdogs2 Nov 5, 3:34 p.m.

So sad to hear this. I was praying that she would pull through. This 15 year old should be given 50 years. He had no business with a loaded gun in his possession. My condolences to her family and friends in their loss. Continue to hold on to God's unchanging hands and He will see you through this difficult time. Keep her memories for they are precious. All of you are in our prayers. With God/Jesus you will get through this in time.

I agree with storchheim...15 to be considered an adult in a violent crime; 13 for using or threatening lethal force.

  • storchheim Nov 5, 2:27 p.m.

Time to lower the age at which the criminal is considered an adult. Fifteen sounds good to me, thirteen for using or threatening lethal force.

  • boomkablamo Nov 5, 2:11 p.m.

15 years old is far more than old enough to understand that pointing a gun at someone and pulling the trigger can take their life. He should be tried as an adult and should never see the light of day again.

  • dhilliard4 Nov 5, 2:05 p.m.

    Rest in Peace Emily -

  • storchheim Nov 5, 2:04 p.m.

Hasbeen, a gun in the home killing someone?

No. A criminal in the home killing someone.

  • wennd Nov 5, 2:00 p.m.

He was charged with intent to kill, so it wasn't an accident???

  • Hasbeen Nov 5, 1:25 p.m.

Too many guns in a gun riddled society. Please gun advocates, make a mental note of another incident of a gun in a home killing a family member not an intruder which is usually the case 98 out of 100 times. Guns do kill people with the action of a person, but, there is a reason they are called Lethal Weapons

  • iknowjack Nov 5, 1:20 p.m.

    smh terrible

  • DontVote4LiarsCheatsOrThieves Nov 5, 1:09 p.m.

    I can't imagine.

First, where'd the 15-year old get the weapon? Secondly, where were all the adults?

Praying for the families of both, especially of the deceased.

  • westernwake1 Nov 5, 12:11 p.m.

    Completely sad.

  • storchheim Nov 5, 12:10 p.m.

People have got to do a better job of raising their kids. The article said "with intent to kill." Doesn't sound like a tragic unsecured firearm accident to me.

  • Scubagirl Nov 5, 12:01 p.m.

What makes a 15 year old even think it's ok to kill?

The shooting was on purpose? Not an accident?
