Good for him...given what may happen toady in NC - Governor race; Tedesco, Goldman, Tate is the best time to get out of NC....especially Wake County.

  • 426X3 Nov 5, 2012

I bet Duke Power would love to get thier hands on the TVA.

  • Walkin Man Nov 5, 2012

Screw up and move up. Seems like, to coin a phrase used a lot today, the "new normal". God help us all.

  • ConservativeVoter Nov 5, 2012

The TVA customers are in big trouble. Johnson will screw up TVA the same way he screwed up Progress Energy.

TVA customers should be bracing for a large rate increase as soon as Johnson takes over the TVA.

  • fillandsandy Nov 5, 2012

Glad to see Mr. Johnson get this after Duke shafted him.

  • Mr. Middle of the Road Nov 5, 2012

Well good, I was worried about him.

  • gman007 Nov 5, 2012

"Johnson will replace Tom Kilgore, who retired as president and CEO of the TVA in August. He had worked at the TVA since 2005."

Kilgore did not 'retire' in August. In August he announced he would retire at the end of the year or when a replacement was in place. Still, anybody believe in coincidence???

  • Honesty first Nov 5, 2012

All of this was done by Duke to better serve the customers. Rate hike, paying former CEO $44 million to go away, no more equal payment plan for power bills. Can you think of anything else that Duke Energy can do that will be good for the customers. Oh my!! How about moving your customer service line off shore.

Time to grease up that revolving door between government and industry insider. TVA is still a qausi-governmental organization. Big Government pulls the strings on the puppets at TVA just like they do for the news readers on PBS.

  • TVs_Deceit Nov 5, 2012

So.. the shock of being dismissed was all a ruse while this was the plan all along.

  • notfeelintoodamngood Nov 5, 2012

Congratulations CEO Bill....TVA is so fortunate to have you...wish you the best!

  • takenly Nov 5, 2012

Well, someone here will look really bad. Duke or the TVA? The Duke board proved how slimy they are. Don't know about the TVA. We'll see.

  • Karmageddon Nov 5, 2012

I guess TVA appreciates Winston Churchill quotes better than the Duke Board of Directors. You can't keep a good man down. Good luck, Mr. Johnson.

  • westernwake1 Nov 5, 2012

This has been a sad loss for Progress, but having Mr. Johnson as CEO will be a big win for TVA.

  • davidgnews Nov 5, 2012

This is cronyism at its finest.

  • jetset Nov 5, 2012

I am sure Mr. Johnson is getting a sweet deal to be CEO of TVA. In addition he has made out like a bandit from his "good riddance" package that Progress/Duke energy gave him. I wonder if he will donate some of his extra money to help churches that are struggling financially right now. That would be real nice of him!

  • computer trainer Nov 5, 2012

LUCKY TVA!!! They are getting a wonderful CEO! And after the DUKE debacle, he deserves a good job!

  • GALNC Nov 5, 2012

Actually...I have friends with both Progress Energy and Duke Energy for over 10 years. I am a customer of Progress. They had a lot of questionable decisions over the years and I felt sick when I heard Bill Johnson was running the show. I don't care where he gets a job...just that he is out. It was time for him to go. He did a terrible job on the parts of the merger that I knew about from friends/family who are employees of both companies.

  • Conservative Nov 5, 2012

Mr. Johnson - Congratulations and all the best. I have missed having your leadership since July 2012.

  • tuckerbrian54 Nov 5, 2012

Congratulations Bill Johnson ..... This now shows that Duke and Rogers are ALL lying .... doesn't it just feel Great telling the world, that you're not the CEO that Rogers and Duke have
said you were. They lose and you Win ....
    again, Congrats !

  • offthegrid7165 Nov 5, 2012

Careful Bill... Tennessee likes to hang their criminals..
