This was NOT A CONSULATE. Never was. The other compound was CIA and other non-consular, sending arms to rebels in Syria, while the countries involved did their best Sergeant Schultz imitations. The other location was used less obvious things, not just involving Libya. Neither Clinton nor Obama have referred to it as a consulate.

Romney is not going to be pushing this issue, but not because of the election. From his abrupt change on so many foreign policy issues, the look in his eyes, and certain responses with Obama, Romney has learned something so scary it changes everything.

Fascinating! Many of you Republicans couldn't stand Romney 9 months ago. Your support was for Santorum, Gingrich, Perry. Trying to turn the tragedy in Benghazi into an argument to vote against Obama? Hmmm... how many Americans have died because of the inactions/actions of the last Republican president? We're past 6,000 now, no? Have any of you Republicans bought a home, or refinanced since 1/09? That interest rate you got? You have Obama to thank for that. We just went from 7% to 3.248%, thanks to Obama's Making Home Affordable program....$270 a month in our pockets, and 5.5 years off the loan. The prevailing NC political issue is, and should be, the economy/jobs (not Benghazi, sorry). Would you rather have a multi millionaire puppet (doing what he's told to do by others....far more interested in ridiculous issues like overturning Roe V. Wade)? Or an individual genuinely invested in taking 4 more years (after all, it took us 8 to get in this mess) to right this effed up ship?

  • marty19702003 Oct 26, 7:13 p.m.

Obama took office in Feb. 2009 with job losses at a rate of 800,000 per month. By December of that year the trend was reversed. We now have 31 straight months of job gains in the private sector. His infrastructure bill would have created another million + jobs in construction had it not being blocked. He increased dramatically number of Pell Grants. His policies saved 2 million homes from foreclosures and and low interest rates on mortgages, the housing market is on the upswing again. Last week, we saw 41 states with lower unemployment numbers (not from people dropping out of the workforce but actually working). He has won every trade case against China including one last week for the steel industry. He decimated Al Qeada leadership, Bin Laden, ended the war and Iraq, doesn't believe in nation building in the middle east. He RESPECTS women’s right to make decisions over their bodies. The millionaires are scared their gravy train will end and are distorting, liying and extorting you.

  • candyappleelixir Oct 26, 5:15 p.m.

If Obama is elected another 4 years, how many more people will have lost their homes, jobs, and will be living off welfare? Under Obama, all of these have increased. I'm voting for Romney while I still have a job, my home.... I do not want to be dependent on govt. Obama sees nothing wrong with people receiving welfare, that's one thing we disagree on.

That is absolutely not true, at least in my case. My income has gone up by about 25-30$/yr, my Wife has a permanent job rather than working by contract, my 401K has essentially recovered all it lost in '08, and business is good. I think things are definitely headed in the right direction.

    >>If Obama has a plan for fixing the economy and bring unemployment down under 8%, why hasn't he done it during his first four years in office. - ConservativeVoter

Okay listen REAL close. Obama doesn't have a plan, Romney doesn't have a plan. The only plan they have is to spend more taxpayer dollars. Romney wants to waste it on the military (although Lord knows why we need to spend more than the next 20+ countries combined I have no idea), Obama wants to waste more of it domestically.

Neither candidate can get us out of the situation, nor can Congress. The only thing that will get this nation out of this situation is to leave it alone, set fair rules and quit artificially setting interest rates.

As neither of the candidates nor Congress plans to do that anytime soon (we'll realize they're not that important), this nation will leap from bubble to bubble until boomers start calling in the chips with their SS and Medicare payments (over 200 trillion by last count)

I will be so happy when early voting is over. I and my crew are running ourselves ragged transporting voters to the polling places. Also it is costing me a young fortune, filling up the vehicles, sometimes twice a day. Thank goodness gasoline prices are down a bit. Why the heck is diesel fuel not!? The church activity bus is getting about six miles per gallon. They need to get rid of it and buy something more environmentally friendly. But since they are letting us use it for free, I am still very grateful. piene2

Why don't some of you folks on here get your FACTS straight!! It doesn't matter if the congress voted, did not vote, for money to send to the Consulate, the President of the USA, who tells us often who he is, has the authority to do anything he wants to and believe me he does and HAS!!! He just said the other day, "the buck stops with me"!!! In regards to all these fine auto and banking bail outs, where do you think the money came from, the government HAS NO MONEY, they borrowed it from China....how do you ever think we are going to repay all that moeny???? and if you think you are better off today than you were 4 years ago, your head is in the sand!! The voting will be a matter of "takers and givers"....takers will vote for Obama, in hope of MORE money, and the givers will vote for Romney!!

"Grand Union, the GOP will not need excuses...but they will be handing out tissues to the Obama crowd." -- uscnnc

You'd better hold on to those tissues there Sparky. You're gonna need them should Romney get elected when you finally realize just what the impact is of all those "missing details" of his Great Recovery Plan. I'm very thankful that I have a good, secure, well paying job and an excellent defined benefits retirement program to look forward to in my old age. Many of the rest of you are just going to get used to a lower standard of living. Well, those of you who aren't already wealthy anyway.

If Obama has a plan for fixing the economy and bring unemployment down under 8%, why hasn't he done it during his first four years in office.

Why is he waiting to get reelected to implement this plan.

If he has a plan and he's not implemented it waiting to get reelected while letting people suffer, he should be impeached for criminal negligence.

Mitt Romeny wants to get tough on China while a company he's invested in is laying off American workers to ship their jobs to China? And the plant currently flies the Chinese flag higher than the American flag (which was made in China). You really want to buy his snakeoil?

I can only wonder on what planet you reside. Obama does not have a plan beyond continuing to spend more money than we have and to add more and more and more taxes, just as he has done by using ObamaCare as the front for applying taxes to the middle class. This was not a Bush recession. It was a recession birthed by Democrats and their ongoing foolish policies. Yes Bush should have worked much harder to undo the stuff that Clinton and the Dems did, and for that he does bear part of the responsibility for the financial meltdown, but the bulk belongs ENTIRELY to the Democrats. We need to have as many Democrats removed from all levels of Government as can possibly be done. Then we need to remove ObamaCare, Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security. That will be a good start

"There were DOZENS AND DOZENS of Embassy attacks going on at the EXACT SAME TIME all cross the entire Middle East." - WooHoo

No, there were about a dozen violent PROTESTS at that time. The attack on the US consulate was very different, involving RPGs, heavy machine guns, indirect (mortar) fire and coordinated fighter movements. Further, a known terrorist group took responsibility for it within hours. That is very different from anything else that was going on.

Why do Progressives want to sweep the murder of a US Embassader under the carpet by pretending it's no big deal? Or, perhaps, maybe it really isn't a big deal to them... Either way it's problematic, isn't it WooHoo?

No, actually the economy and the nation, as a whole, is in far better shape than four years ago. The auto industry has been reinvigorated, Clunkers have been taken off the road. The banking crises is on the mend. Industry is rebounding, We have the bare bones beginning of a proper national healthcare system and we are winding down the bush wars of aggression. Why do you care? How does it affect you? Maybe these people want to be sure they can vote and not have to do it on Tuesday and miss it because of work or something else. If they have the time, and it's legal to vote right now, then why should they not do it?

You're not even stating an opinion, just being contrary to be contrary.
