Can't "curl up and nap", have to work for those who want(won't)!

"Glad SOMEeone doesn't have anything else to do.........." ellengraham5660

Hate to break it to you folks, but not everyone works a Monday through Friday, 9-5 job. If they did, the world would shut down. No restaurants, retail stores, movie theaters, grocery stores, hospitals, police & fireman, airport employees... there are HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of people who don't work a "standard" work day for various reasons. Be thankful for every last one of them because society needs every last one of them.

Just because YOU are at work during the day doesn't mean that someone who isn't doesn't work just as hard (or harder) and pay just as much (or more) in taxes.

Their TV tells them no one works. Just like their TV tells them who to vote for. Do you really think people want to vote for Obama or Romney? No thats who their TV tells them can win and

"If you've never been to our coast in the fall, it's really special."

The mountains ain't too shabby either. My basement is now down to 62 degrees.......time to make a couple of batches of beer.

"Decided this morning to make the house smell good. Beef tips are in the crock pot-tonight will be a great meal for a wet, cold day!!"

Mix in a nice crackling fire.......

  • Hammerhead Oct 8, 2012

This weather doesn't bother me any more than the 95 degree or 35 degree days do. I've got a pile of wood that needs splitting and some trees to plant. The ground will be nice and soft.

Rebel-we leave at 5AM Friday for Portsmouth Island. I hope the "big croakers" better known as Red Drum start to move up and down that beach! I've caught many a croaker and bluefish, but never a red drum.

When a big front like this comes thru, it stimulates the mullets to start migrating south(mullet blow)-and following the mullets are all the big drum and blues feeding up for the winter.

Decided this morning to make the house smell good. Beef tips are in the crock pot-tonight will be a great meal for a wet, cold day!!

Bleak cold days like today will yield to a few beautiful days to spend at the fair or at the coast. Aren't we blessed in NC to have so many wonderful opportunities???

I'm in training classes today and tomorrow. Today's class got out early, so 'curl up and nap' was on my agenda even before I saw this article.

  • PracticalMagick Oct 8, 2012

Wow...that was almost cool how politics just slid right on into the weather thread.... LOL...

(insert sarcasm font here)I love election year...

  • ellengraham5660 Oct 8, 2012

ha ha ha - that's cute! I wish I could have stayed at home today - I debated on it, but decided it was worth more to have off Friday.......to go to the carnival! Love a Fair!!!!

  • Minarchist Oct 8, 2012

You guys go ahead and "curl up and nap", the rest of us will be at work so that we can pay taxes to keep your lights and cable on and your fridge filled with food. Don't worry about us....we're good. And you government employees that got today off, I hope you enjoy it. Mitt is about to drop the hammer on you guys. Get those resumes ready! :)

I can't stand it when meteorologists (seems like most of them do this!) imply the only "nice" weather is "sunny and warm". Some of us really do love cold weather - especially when it is SUPPOSED to be chilly!

Cold weather belongs up north. They can have it. Keep it 80 all winter and some (most) of the people that grew up here will be happy.

  • working for deadbeats Oct 8, 2012

I agree, wakethezombies. This is my favorite weather.

  • Rebelyell55 Oct 8, 2012

48 deg. out side, 59 inside, I sure hated to have to turn the heat on, but she'll be home in an hour complainting.

  • smegma Oct 8, 2012

if only we could get this kind of rain in the middle of summer when my bermuda grass actually wants it

  • Rebelyell55 Oct 8, 2012

I fore see Croakers running this week. Wooo Weeee.

  • baldchip Oct 8, 2012

Could this start a 'mullet blow" on our coast??? That would cause fishing to notch up some-which is great!

If you've never been to our coast in the fall, it's really special.

It was a beautiful ight at the north pole last night, you could actually see the stars for once without the glare of the snow,I decided to sleep outside in my sleeping bag,.
When I woke up this morning it was a balmy -76.Warm weather has already hit here.

  • Shadow666 Oct 8, 2012

"Nice" weather is subjective...I don't consider a "warm-up" to 80 in October to be great. It's Fall for crying out loud!

  • spoonman Oct 8, 2012

boooooo... give me cold and dreary for a couple more days!

  • working for deadbeats Oct 8, 2012

The weather is awesome!!! I wish it would be like this year round.
