"People, do you want to hand control back to the party that had us facing a $2.5 billion deficit going into 2011? - faperrigo

Dude didn't even mention the fact that we had a $3B surplus from '06-'07 that we COULD have put into a rainy-day fund, on one-time expenses (bldgs., roads, bridges, etc.), or God-forbid on tax refunds. But no, our Democratic Governor, House, and Senate decided to spend every penney of it on residual items. So, when the "rain" came, we had no surplus AND had to pay for all the additional spending. Yeah right, let's put 'em back in power.

September 20, 2012 2:56 p.m.........Ya got that right, vote independent and make a choice.

  • Rebelyell55 Sep 21, 9:29 a.m.

While I like the cuts they made and the effort, it wasn't enough. Still too many bloated agencies. But at the same time they've sold us out to Corp. America. Not saying the other party wouldn't of done the same.

  • MakoII Sep 20, 6:46 p.m.

The GOP put people out of work in this state. They cut state employees, adding to the Unemployment rate.

They didn't pass a jobs bill.

    They didn't improve infrastructure.

They cut higher Education, directly going against the State Constitution.

I voted for the GOP in 2010 to break the cycle of corrupt Democrats, not to break North Carolina's back.

Guess I won't do THAT again...

  • faperrigo Sep 20, 4:55 p.m.

Wishful thinking on taking back the senate. People, do you want to hand control back to the party that had us facing a $2.5 billion deficit going into 2011? That did a horrible job of running the Employment Security Commission and the Division of Medicaid? Who can not agree with putting $1 billion back into the pockets of taxpayer is good for the economy? ALL small businesses will get a tax exemption from their first $50k of income. That is very beneficial. Liberal leadership isn't the answer for NC. If so, they would not have lost the elections of 2010.

  • davidgnews Sep 20, 4:11 p.m.

The Republicans have done NOTHING to help the economy in NC.

They will only help their own economies.

  • Crabbit Cratur Sep 20, 3:49 p.m.

'Why? To force more social legislation down our throats?"

hard to imagine how more "dark ages " they could become but I'm sure they'll try.

"The Washington Examiner says 31 Obama campaign bundlers received clean-energy loans and grants totaling more than $16 billion. The auto bailout favored the United Auto Workers -- over secured creditors -- and eight of the 10 states getting the most contracts from the stimulus program were heavily Democratic." And this is who you people refuse to fire!!!

"Learn to think and vote independently people!"

I already can think and this will lead to a vote for Obama and the democrats this time....

  • dixieboy Sep 20, 2:56 p.m.

What really burns me (other than three foot flames) is how everybody is saying republican this... and democrat that... all of you are spoonfed talking points which you in turn regurgitate over and over. Learn to think and vote independently people!

"Neither has Obama. NC has one of the highest unemployment rates in the Nation."

So how was Obama to blame for the recession? and do you think unemployment would be lower if we were in 30's style Depression?

  • Crabbit Cratur Sep 20, 12:39 p.m.

""Not that it would happen, but it would remove about 40% of your tax burden. Would you still complain when you are paying 40% less in property and sales tax?"

Yes. Its those educated kids that will be paying my Soc. Sec. and medicare bills :) We should increasing spending on education not cutting it....that we we could attract and keep the best teachers, reduce class sizes and add subjects to keep all the kids engaged. If that means higher taxes...so be it.

  • hppyhourhero Sep 20, 12:37 p.m.

JustAName: "it would remove about 40% of your tax burden. Would you still complain when you are paying 40% less in property and sales tax"....Sorry, Tillis will just take that money and use it to give his staff huge raises.

You bet I would mind..and so should you. Most parents work and many don't have the capabilities to teach their own children. Society as we know it would be gone. We would be a third world country too. I will gladly pay taxes to provide my and your children's education.

Oops I forgot the Fracking vote.....a few years of nearly worthless gas and in return we get generations of polluted water.

Hopefully that will lose them a lot of votes outside the cities where we have few wells.

  • Crabbit Cratur Sep 20, 10:53 a.m.

We've had two years of supposed jobs jobs jobs and all we got was cuts to education, a pointless obsession with gays and abortion and a Jim Crow attempt to restrict voting.

    Vote Blue!

  • nowon_yuno Sep 20, 10:51 a.m.

GO BIG BLUE! We're tired of "Gay, God, Abortion, Conservative" etc.
    Truly American

Whats does the Univeristy of Michigan have to do with this?

  • babbleon1 Sep 20, 10:49 a.m.

Vote Democratic to get government out of our homes and doctor's offices.

Vote GOP if you saw a 'job growth' bill anywhere in the flood of gay marriage and abortion bills. And the budget doesn't count: CUTTING current jobs (educators) in the hope that new jobs 'trickle down' was not job growth.

  • rsgolo Sep 20, 10:49 a.m.

"GO BIG BLUE! We're tired of "Gay, God, Abortion, Conservative" etc."

So, you're tired of the things that the Democratic party have been spitting out the most (except Conservative). Interesting.

I've received a stack of stuff from Neil Hunt, and most of the list of 'accomplishments' are completely untrue in a blatant sense. I don't know how these guys sleep at night.

  • rlsmith5 Sep 20, 10:17 a.m.

Let's just turn over everything to the Republicans. With leadership like Thom Tillis and reps like Mike Stone from Sanford in about three more years they probably will do away with schools and require all children to be home schooled. This also will eliminate need for school buses. They will also reap campaigning funds from the gas companies that pushed them so hard to approve fracking. There new fracking commission should be called the DIRTY DOZEN

  • SMAPAEA Sep 20, 10:06 a.m.

That's why I get a piece of mail EVERY DAY from the Republican party...I knew it....they are scared that NC will wake-up and return to sanity.

  • davidgnews Sep 20, 9:50 a.m.

While they're at it, they should just go ahead and adopt the Deliverance theme as the official state song.
