I wish movie stars didn't get so much attention. All the glory should be spent on researchers, scientists, professors. People who are actually trying to CHANGE the world. Actors/Actresses contribute nothing worthwhile to my opinion, of course.

  • packfan12 Jun 8, 2012

Does anyone know what's been going on out in RTP. There are quite a few signs out on Davis Dr. near the RTP headquarters saying "Crew parking", and "Extras Parking" along with a ton of tents and trucks. The parking signs somewhat imply that something is being filmed out there, but I'm not for sure if that's true. If it is, I didn't know if maybe it was Iron Man being filmed out there.

    Any thoughts?

"I want to see Paltrow eat a big cheeseburger and fries."

    Shallow Hal?

  • lunarmodule Jun 7, 2012

I saw Gwyneth Paltrow at Poole's Diner last night. She really seemed to be enjoying her meal! Having a movie filmed here is great for our economy and our profile. And the star watching is just short-lived, harmless fun!

  • Pepe Silvia Jun 7, 2012

GeeHog - I'm sorry but when, exactly, did I judge your or say how you spend your time?

All I said was that NO ONE should judge other people because EVERYONE does things that someone else sees as a waste of time. I could care less what you do with your free time.

  • TheBigLC Jun 7, 2012

Since you are posting too Pepe, I guess you are no one to judge how I spend my time either.

  • BernsteinIII Jun 7, 2012

People need to get a life.

  • Pepe Silvia Jun 7, 2012

back - As much time as you have spent leaving comments on here and focusing on what other people do with themselves, you are no one to judge of how another person spends their time.

  • TheBigLC Jun 7, 2012

If you envy Robert Downey or any other hollywood stooge then THAT is sad. The problem is they aren't "paying" to se them they are wasting their time. if you want to see them... go to the movies

  • missparrothead Jun 7, 2012

I want to see Paltrow eat a big cheeseburger and fries.

  • JAT Jun 7, 2012

back - no it doesn't mean that at all. None of us want to be Downey with his drug problems or Gwyneth who is only known for her fasting and juicing these days. But those people provide us with entertainment, no different than the court jesters or a dancing monkey. We're willing to pay for things that make us laugh or for things with such talent that we envy their skill.

  • Uhavenoclu Jun 6, 2012

They were eating at biscuitville in Durham, saw them both Iron man and the Tin man,They asked me if I could give them a ride back to the set because Repo man took their car...But hey they enjoyed their meal.

  • TheBigLC Jun 6, 2012

JAT, because it means they actually think that person is somehow more important or special simply because they are in movies or tv. Hollywood is full of ego maniacs and degenrates. What makes that person a "celebrity" anyways? The E! channel? sheesh

  • Hammerhead Jun 6, 2012

"More power to you if you "get into" "star watching"... but for me personally, I have better things to do with my time."

    Like abusing your " key?

  • tomehall Jun 6, 2012

Buddy told me they were eating at Solas in Raleigh .

  • jkhart Jun 6, 2012

I looked at the interactive 'Filmed in North Carolina' and was surprised to see no mention of The Hunting Game.

  • working for deadbeats Jun 6, 2012

I'm relieved that I have a life and don't spend time looking for stars.

  • Got Peart Jun 6, 2012

a friend of my wife's actually was called to be an extra in the film. Played the role of Tech Guy 2 or something. Got a chance to chat with the actor playing one of the villains (I believe he called it "Patriot").

To me it's pretty cool. I mean I froze my butt off 20+ years ago at the DAP for Bull Durham. Any day now I'm expecting a call about my forthcoming star on Hollywood's walk of fame. lol. Nothing like a baseball game in middle of winter - go ahead act like it's hot outside - hard to do when your knees are banging and teeth are clattering from sitting in 30 degree weather in shorts and a tshirt.

  • Pepe Silvia Jun 6, 2012

I've driven by the filming, but not stopped. It doesn't interest me, and there hasn't even been huge crowds.

To people who keep saying "waste of time" or "they should be working or volunteering" I'd like to know how you spend all of your time?
I can GUARANTEE you all have hobbies/interests that other people might think is silly or is a waste of time.

  • Uhavenoclu Jun 6, 2012

I saw justin bieber at wendys and john Wayne at texas roadhouse with Elvis earlier this morning.

"backy seems bitter. I'll donate my time to an animal shelter if they let me turn on the gas to take out the puppies that were born because people think dogs can understand GOP abstinence only mandates."-----corey3rd

Can someone please tell me what this ignorant rambling tripe is doing in the comment section of a story on Iron Man 3?

  • surfer Jun 6, 2012

Earlier I was on star watch and saw Harrison Ford pulling out of the Umstead Hotel. He was driving down Harrison Ave. in a Ford Mustang. I heart Famous People!

  • JAT Jun 6, 2012

back - how does that make anyone's life "sad" because they want to see a celebrity? It's a nice break from the mundane and it's not hurting anyone.

  • TheBigLC Jun 6, 2012

bosshall, you mean other than John Edwards? I don't blame others for for curious I pity them for having nothing better to do with their day. I am sure a shelter or school could use their help. Maybe a elderly person could use a lift to the dr.'s Or maybe they could volunteer at an animal shelter. but I guess the chance of seeing Robert Downey, Gwyenth or Don Cheedle is more important in their lives. How sad.

  • Got Peart Jun 6, 2012

back with a vengence - I'm guessing there isn't anything in life that you fantasize about, or are a fan of and relish an opportunity to see it up close? Sad

Just cause it'snot your cup of tea, doesn't mean it's wrong for others to be curious. If I had the time off, I'd go by - just for sheer curiousity. No, I'm not star struck, inf fact I'm more in favor of just leaving them be, and let them live their lives, but you can't blame people for wanting to see what's going on.

Have you never had one of those moments when you've gone "wow - that was so and so"? For me, it would be seeing a rare classic car - always turns my head.

  • Shelley Cooper Jun 6, 2012

    "Gwyneth was eating a Mcribb"

    Oh, ewww. Gross.

Now a Big Mac I'm all over. MMM.

  • Objective Scientist Jun 6, 2012

To what degree this movie being filmed in NC will help with the local economy and jobs for locals, albeit temporary - GREAT! Nevertheless, although I am very much of a "live and let live" person, the "star watching" thing is "intriguing" to me. It appears that many in our society are perpetually "star struck" and put much effort and time into being able catch a mere "fleeting glimpse" of a "celebrity" - be it actor, athlete, politician, etc. Not to mention the ecstasy in being able have even an extremely brief "touch of the hand" as the "celebrity" walks by... and the extreme ecstasy if an autograph - no matter how hastily - and illegibly scribbled. I see adults doing it and setting examples for kids, if not actually encouraging them to do it. More power to you if you "get into" "star watching"... but for me personally, I have better things to do with my time.

  • bosshall919 Jun 6, 2012

all of this is great for nc we are on the map

  • SubwayScoundrel Jun 6, 2012

Good for NC and Screen Gems in Wilmington. Good for Raleigh. Filming in your city just drops cash in and leaves. Like a tourist attraction.

For those who talk trash about it, don't spend the time at work commenting on Wral. Get back to work and save the angst and go argue with the telephone pole in the parking lot. You will get the same respect.

  • surfer Jun 6, 2012

I saw Gwyneth, Cheedle and Robert Deniro at the McDonalds on Harrison. Gwyneth was eating a Mcribb, Deniro was sipping on a McFrappy and Don Cheedle bought my lunch. It was so exciting!!! Thanky movie stars!

  • moogies Jun 6, 2012

I think it is exciting to see how the movie industry puts things together. For those putting down the movie industry and those who work in it, I'm very sorry you feel so judgemental. This is a very different life style and has a lot of different pressures that go along with it and some folks deal with it better than others. But those of us who choose a life behind a desk, clicking away at a computer all day and night for a living, or who lead a life in an office all day long with little to no variance - I'm sure many people outside that life-style would find something disturbing about that as well and wonder why we can't do something more fulfilling and constructive. Although it's not for me, I do admire folks who can handle leading a life that changes all of the time.

  • ToWhomItMayConcern Jun 6, 2012

it's entertainment PEOPLE; it's exciting!!!! Get over it!!!!

  • ToWhomItMayConcern Jun 6, 2012

Mr Downey is a total drug addict/ pot terrorist. I was walking down the street and he blew a drugsmoke cloud right into my face. Luckily I was close enough to a hospital to get a transfusion right away. Close call tho.
    June 6, 2012 10:40 a.

    YOU'RE KIDDING RIGHT?????????????????????

  • houndog Jun 6, 2012

You people are insane. How you can turn something as cool as a major movie shoot into a political debate? Get. A. Grip. If you love movies, this is great stuff. Good grief, give it a rest. How on earth do you get through the day with this much angst built up. Man.

  • not my real name Jun 6, 2012

"stars" are no different from you or me. I dont see what all the hoopla is about.

  • JenA Jun 6, 2012

I work right around the corner from where they are filming. Its exciting. It's not so much to see a "Star" as to see how this all comes together. To be able to say, "I watched them film a part of that on my lunch break one day." It's fun and intriguing. I have a job I work my tail off. Quit being so judgmental and enjoy life!

  • ncdogguy Jun 6, 2012

Maybe these people should try doing something more productive with their time such as working or volunteering.

  • ToWhomItMayConcern Jun 6, 2012

Oh come on people, it's exciting! It's the way society is today! I work on the road they filming on and I am excited and seem to be checking every once in a while to see if I see anything usual...........I do see tv trucks riding up and down the road! My time is mine to waste, "Back with a Vengance"!!!!! Don't tell me what I should be doing on judge me!

  • The Deadhead Jun 6, 2012

anyone seen Pheonix Jones or the "rain city" super heros there?

  • Shelley Cooper Jun 6, 2012

I'd drink if I had to deal with Gwynneth Paltrow.

  • SteelThis Jun 6, 2012

Wow trytryagain, aren't you judgmental today?

  • SteelThis Jun 6, 2012

    I thought he didn't drink?

  • scotian Jun 6, 2012 least Robert Downey is working very hard every day in dealing with his addiction which is more than can be said for how you are dealing with your personality disorder.

  • kikinc Jun 6, 2012

NanaNae-I've heard that picture was false.

OMG they were trying to be extras.

  • Damien Thorne Jun 6, 2012

Personally I like his movies, and I like the Iron Man series. I will not be going out there to watch, but I understand why some would. If I remember correctly Harrison Ford was working around the SW set when they needed someone to read the Han Solo part and pulled him in to do it. While the chances of that happening are akin to winning the lottery I will not spoil someone's delusions of grandeur.

  • Shelley Cooper Jun 6, 2012

All I heard on WRAL this morning was two people who said they watched the film crew put down mulch.

They can come over to my house this weekend if they want to put down mulch.

  • NanaNae Jun 6, 2012

Saw a picture of Robert Downy Jr having a beer at Rally Point Sports bar on FB - looks to be legit, but according to the news they have not spotted him yet.

  • Kelondris Jun 6, 2012

Also Robert Downey has had any movie contracts have a stipulation that if he goes back to drugs during the shooting that he will be fired. It gives him more incentive to stay clean.
