what goes around, comes around, serious lack of morals here

  • RM24 Jan 12, 6:12 p.m.

America is just wallowing in shame right now and these Marines are leading the way.

Maybe you are wallowing in shame? Some posters however are glowing with ignorance!

  • goodtogo2 Jan 12, 4:47 p.m.

I guess I am a bad person....but this doesnt really bother me all that much. I guess the Talaban have never done such an unspeakable thing to women, children, US soldiers or their own people. What these guys need to do though is stop taking photos of the things they are doing!

  • you are always right Jan 12, 4:19 p.m.

"This enemy only respects ruthless and overwhelming force!"

Oh really? How many corpses have to be urinated on before terrorism has been eliminated and America is once again respected in the world?

  • redrubberball1 Jan 12, 4:01 p.m.

There is one thing sure in all this. This enemy only respects ruthless and overwhelming force!

  • redrubberball1 Jan 12, 3:56 p.m.

"You may decide it is non-Christian but war itself is non-Christian "

"The bible is full of war. You might try reading it some time. It is also full of lessons on how to think and behave even in the most trying of times. Part of not allowing evil to win is not allowing evil to take over your own heart. Killing someone who is trying to kill you is completely consistent with christian teachings. Having "ruthless hatred in your heart" is not."

This is a classic case of comment taken from context and the blind leading the blind. The first comment left off a vital part of the statement, "and nevertheless necessary sometimes".
The "ruthless hatred" I described has to evidence itself for the duration of the war. It would manifest itself as a ruthless determination to take enemy life vigorously and without remorse, with determination and resolve. Forgiveness would come later, just as we have forgiven our enemies from the past, over time and distance. Get a grip on reality folks!

  • Coretta Scott Thing Jan 12, 3:45 p.m.

America is just wallowing in shame right now and these Marines are leading the way. We are already hated, not for being the best country in the world, but for being the most arrogant. In the U.S. there was a widely held view that the Taliban are subhuman. The U.S. media helps propagate this view. Since the Taliban are regarded as animals by our culture, it is not surprising that these remains were treated with contempt a few ignorant brain washed military men. But don't be surprised when the retribution comes from this incident. They might not have our resources, but they are resourceful and to be honest the 9-11 attacks were as brilliant a military move as any general in history could have pulled off. When we treat the world with contempt, it comes back to us in spades. I'm glad our country has denounced these young Marines.

  • Ezekiel c23 v19to20 Jan 12, 2:57 p.m.

"In reality you have to treat people the way they treat you."

Actually, ncouterbanks69, this is a choice you make. It isn't an imperative. You choose to do ill or good in the world. That choice isn't made for you by others.

  • Ezekiel c23 v19to20 Jan 12, 2:34 p.m.

"I have never violently hurt anyone so I wouldn't be blind. I am sure there are a lot of others as well."

So you are a "chicken-hawk". Good to know. Figures though.

  • usaraywv Jan 12, 2:30 p.m.

Self righteous terrorists. Sorry this happened but war is hell period. They have done plenty worse to our soldiers and civilians and their own countrymen when they get the chance.
I don’t feel one bit of remorse over this. You put 18 year olds in an impossible situation and you want rational reactions. Tell the Taliban to kiss my politically correct southern portion of my rear.

  • Ezekiel c23 v19to20 Jan 12, 2:27 p.m.

How are "vengence" and "justice" the same thing then. Please explain. This should be utterly amusing and entertaining.

  • bill0 Jan 12, 2:27 p.m.

  • soyousay Jan 12, 2:22 p.m.

which is to KILL your enemy!
...which is why you keep confusing X-box with the real world...

and why you have never fought one.

  • soyousay Jan 12, 2:20 p.m.

    vengence = justice

...that's only in video games and comic books.....otherwise you must be just great with endless war and the everybody with a grudge invading and killing..wait that's a video game too

  • Ezekiel c23 v19to20 Jan 12, 2:19 p.m.

"If you ever find yourself in war, you'd better find the necessary degree of ruthless hatred in your heart for your enemy or you may not last long enough to be able to rise to the task at hand, which is to KILL your enemy!
    "

I never found it and came out just fine. I know several who did though, and they stayed in the sand. Hatred of your enemy will not keep you alive, and it may actually get you killed. It is also capable of making you pee in the dead.

  • ncouterbanks69 Jan 12, 2:19 p.m.

"Very old testament of you but an eye for an eye just makes everyone blind."

I have never violently hurt anyone so I wouldn't be blind. I am sure there are a lot of others as well.

  • m121755 Jan 12, 2:17 p.m.

Even the enemy is human life, there is no respect for human life anymore, what good did it do them to do something like this? No reason to further desecrate someone that you have already killed..Just dispespect and making Americans look bad :(

  • ncouterbanks69 Jan 12, 2:15 p.m.

"Not even close. So sad for you though."

I really figured although your political views are way way way off the chart you had enough sense to understand that one. I suppose I was wrong....thinking you would get it that is. Vengence is equal to justice. In a perfect world (the world I bet even you wish we had...but maybe not) you would treat people the way you want to be treated. In reality you have to treat people the way they treat you.

  • redrubberball1 Jan 12, 2:08 p.m.

"There are times when we are called on to defend ourselves, but blanket hatred for the enemy is decidedly non-christian."

You may decide it is non-Christian but war itself is non-Christian and nevertheless necessary sometimes. If you ever find yourself in war, you'd better find the necessary degree of ruthless hatred in your heart for your enemy or you may not last long enough to be able to rise to the task at hand, which is to KILL your enemy!

  • Wendellcatlover Jan 12, 2:04 p.m.

"...Treat people the way they treat you."
"You are now going by a bible quote so I am sure you have heard an eye for an eye."
Actually, I believe the bible states to treat others the way you want to be treated...big difference there.

I can almost understand the mentality of these soldiers-war, I imagine can wear you down, however, we are supposed to be above things such as this video shows, being a civilized country and all.

  • haggis basher Jan 12, 1:57 p.m.

"Blame the media for this......as there are indeed certain "issues" which SHOULD NOT be shared....but this is AMERICA....and the media allows whatever they want us to see...."

Wrong. If our Military is doing stupid things then its good we know and that we can put a stop to it.
If you can't stand a free press perhaps you ought to go and live in Iran or NK

  • haggis basher Jan 12, 1:55 p.m.

    "vengence = justice"

Very old testament of you but an eye for an eye just makes everyone blind. This was a really stupid stunt and these marines are probably already finding that out..........

  • Ezekiel c23 v19to20 Jan 12, 1:51 p.m.

"Why would these marines be video taping them selves doing this."

The young these days videotape and photograph themselves doing all sorts of things. Remember Abu Ghraib?

"Obviously it was doctored to look like this. These marines were probably standing over these dead murderers to make sure they were not alive."

    Prove it then.

"Please give some of the Americans a little common sense."

When we start exhibiting more of it ourselves.

  • haggis basher Jan 12, 1:49 p.m.

"Why would these marines be video taping them selves doing this. Obviously it was doctored to look like this. These marines were probably standing over these dead murderers to make sure they were not alive. Please give some of the Americans a little common sense."

Sorry but it turns out that it is genuine and they already have two of those responsible......

  • Ezekiel c23 v19to20 Jan 12, 1:42 p.m.

  • dollibug Jan 12, 1:42 p.m.

Blame the media for this......as there are indeed certain "issues" which SHOULD NOT be shared....but this is AMERICA....and the media allows whatever they want us to see....

No.....this was not a good thing to allow....but I am sure that a LOT GOES ON right here in AMERICA that would "disgrace" our country also.....probably MORE than people would ever care to know about.....

  • barbstillkickin Jan 12, 1:38 p.m.

ain't this modern technology that we have just GREAT???????????
It is good....for those you do NOT ABUSE IT....

  • u stand corrected Jan 12, 1:38 p.m.

@ncouterbanks69 - although I believe the eye for an eye is over used today, I do believe in it. Again, I don't see it as a good or bad thing, just something that happened. I'm just giving Mouche fodder to copy and reply on....................
So true. The little weak minded rat always goes for the trap. Even without the cheese!!!

Ezekiel - you still spell they as tehy. What was your rank? Curious as to your exposure of infantry and meeting hostels.
    Bartmeister
Bart he had to have been a pencil pusher or maybe worked at the armory and only got to rub on the weapons and dream.

  • ncouterbanks69 Jan 12, 1:35 p.m.

"no, that's called vengence and retribution. Both of which rarely have anything at all to do with jsutice."

    vengence = justice

  • saltnsanddefenderofdamiddleclass Jan 12, 1:25 p.m.

belgians would have never done this.

  • Ezekiel c23 v19to20 Jan 12, 12:53 p.m.

"this seems to strike a nerve for you which is odd."

    How so, bart?

"sounds like a whole bunch of arm chair quarter backs (liberals) talking bad about something that they will never ever know any thing about. (Sacrifice)"

Laughable idiocy on your part there, loprestw

  • Ezekiel c23 v19to20 Jan 12, 12:50 p.m.

"So if soliders I stand by my statement, if not what they did was wrong."

So as long as you are also willing to accept w/o complaint when they do it to our soldiers. Also as long as you are willing to accept the fallout from this stupidity.

"Exactly. It is called justice. Treat people the way they treat you."

no, that's called vengence and retribution. Both of which rarely have anything at all to do with jsutice.

"You are now going by a bible quote so I am sure you have heard an eye for an eye."

and a tooth for a tooth, soon we are all blind and toothless.

  • loprestw Jan 12, 12:38 p.m.

sounds like a whole bunch of arm chair quarter backs (liberals) talking bad about something that they will never ever know any thing about. (Sacrifice)

  • bill0 Jan 12, 12:34 p.m.

"You are now going by a bible quote so I am sure you have heard an eye for an eye."

And I assume you know that is an old testament quote and Jesus preached basically the exact opposite? You know, all that love your enemy stuff. It isn't about being weak, it is about the corrosive force of hate in your heart. There are times when we are called on to defend ourselves, but blanket hatred for the enemy is decidedly non-christian.

  • Bartmeister Jan 12, 12:33 p.m.

@ncouterbanks69 - although I believe the eye for an eye is over used today, I do believe in it. Again, I don't see it as a good or bad thing, just something that happened. I'm just giving Mouche fodder to copy and reply on....................

  • Bartmeister Jan 12, 12:26 p.m.

@ Ezekiel (Mouche).. this seems to strike a nerve for you which is odd.

  • ncouterbanks69 Jan 12, 12:15 p.m.

"You honestly know nothing about the men who were killed, yet you assume they are some horrible monsters. For all you know they could well have been innocent farmers."

If they were farmers or innocent bystanders then these men should be punished. I guess I assumed they were soldiers who were trying to kill our men they just got it first. So if soliders I stand by my statement, if not what they did was wrong.

"Ya know. The Taliban says the same thing about our dead when terrible things happen to them. Go figure."

Exactly. It is called justice. Treat people the way they treat you. You are now going by a bible quote so I am sure you have heard an eye for an eye.

  • Ezekiel c23 v19to20 Jan 12, 12:09 p.m.

"But I would not care if they urinated on the Taliban and then killed them. I have NO respect for any Taliban member. NO death on earth is cruel enough for what the Taliban deserves. "

and tehy say the same thing about us. Curious. Why do you want us to be more like our enemy? Why do you hate America and freedom so much?

  • Ezekiel c23 v19to20 Jan 12, 12:07 p.m.

"but I feel our troops see and go through SO much more than what we see and hear on TV as we sit in the comfort and security of our homes."

So what? Does not justify being a barbarian.

"PS. America is not as perfect and civilized as we like to think. Example, abortion is still legal."

    And thank sthe Goddess too.

"Or just watch your local news programs."

Yeah, the Republican debates are fair proof of this.

  • Ezekiel c23 v19to20 Jan 12, 12:05 p.m.

    "Respect is earned not granted."

Respect for a human being is grated. Respect for an individual is earned.

"These people certainly have not earned respect"

You honestly know nothing about the men who were killed, yet you assume they are some horrible monsters. For all you know they could well have been innocent farmers.

"but they did earn what they got."

Ya know. The Taliban says the same thing about our dead when terrible things happen to them. Go figure.

  • RM24 Jan 12, 12:05 p.m.

As mentioned before, I don't care what they did with the dead bodies. I support our troops and it may have been in poor taste. But I would not care if they urinated on the Taliban and then killed them. I have NO respect for any Taliban member. NO death on earth is cruel enough for what the Taliban deserves. And for those who are offended by that I don't care either. Its war not a local football game! Too bad we did not kill them all!

  • gabewalker6166 Jan 12, 12:00 p.m.

Although these actions should not be done, and action should be taken to prevent this, but I feel our troops see and go through SO much more than what we see and hear on TV as we sit in the comfort and security of our homes.
PS. America is not as perfect and civilized as we like to think. Example, abortion is still legal. Or just watch your local news programs.

  • ncouterbanks69 Jan 12, 11:55 a.m.

"This isn't just a matter of showing respect for another human"

Respect is earned not granted. These people certainly have not earned respect but they did earn what they got.

  • Ezekiel c23 v19to20 Jan 12, 11:50 a.m.

"They didn't shame you or your country."

    Yes they did.

"Maybe you should be more vocal about those stories."

    Why?

    "Semper Fi"

    Semper *yawn*

  • bill0 Jan 12, 11:50 a.m.

This isn't just a matter of showing respect for another human, it is also showing respect for the uniform. Being a US marine is supposed to mean something. There is a standard to uphold and it is much higher than what these guys did.

  • Ezekiel c23 v19to20 Jan 12, 11:49 a.m.

"What do you mean, "don't understand it"? What's there to understand? They peed on them and videotaped it. It's not hard to "understand"

Well, you are missing the part where this actually helps the enemy and hurts our cause. Or the part where it is yet, once again, something that our allies look at and find it harder to jsutify supporting us now and in the future. The damage it does to public opinion and support for teh war and the military in general.

We could go on and on of course...but you get the point.

  • u stand corrected Jan 12, 11:48 a.m.

What's a shame and disgusting to me is the fact that almost daily WRAL has a story about one of our troops being killed in combat. That story might get 5 comments all day long. For those of you bashing our troops and feeling so strongly about how we as a country are perceived, so quick to judge our fighting men and women in uniform, maybe you should care more when the "honorable" die. They didn't shame you or your country. Maybe you should be more vocal about those stories. Semper Fi

  • Ezekiel c23 v19to20 Jan 12, 11:44 a.m.

"No surprise the usual anti-American anti-authority pro-criminal pro-enemy posters have a problem with this"

I think you meant to say the "anti-American anti-authority pro-criminal pro-enemy posters" who have no problem with this.

"your opinions have no merit given your known twisted viewpoints."

You mean the twisted viewpoint of someone who has actually served in combat?
