The key thing to this trial is that they can't prove that Jason Young left the hotel between 11 pm and 7 am.

Only witness is the brain damaged convenience store clerk who admitted that has problem remembering things.

Bet if you took pictures of everybody who went in her store during an eight hour shift, she couldn't identify most if not all of the pictures.

Too many questions about the home. Blood prints from two different size shoes. Hair in MY's hand with DNA that doesn't match JY and anybody related to the case. Cigarette butts in the house with DNA that doesn't match JY and anybody related to the case. Jewelery box with DNA that doesn't match JY and anybody related to the case.

Questionable timeline that says JY left Hillsville, VA at 11 pm and arrived in Raleigh at 2 AM. one hour to clean up crime and remove all DNA evidence of JY, leave Raleigh at 3 AM and arrive back in Hillsville at 6 AM.

Based on personal experiences it's a 3 hour drive if nothing goes wrong.

With Murphy's Law in place, he's going to hit snags which will delay his timeline and lengthen the trip beyond the planned schedule.

According to the DA's and the LEO's, JY is such a master criminal that in one hour he was able to remove all evidence of the crime pointing at him from the house, not track any blood or evidence into his Explorer or the hotel room in Hillsville, VA.

Based on the evidence, it's like he didn't go back to the house, and drive his car from Hillsville to Ralleigh and back.

**These emails were being sent by JY....who was planning to murder his wife....knowing that the law enforcement would "find all of them".....he might have had "issues"....but still DOES NOT PROVE he is a KILLER...**

That's right, but everything all together DOES PROVE he is a KILLER.

The LEO's weren't comfortable with the questionable timeline that says JY left Hillsville, VA at 11 pm and arrived in Raleigh at 2 AM. one hour to clean up crime and remove all DNA evidence of JY, leave Raleigh at 3 AM and arrive back in Hillsville at 6 AM.

That's why the LEO's called RDU to see if a small plane arrived from Southwest Virginia early the morning of the murder and also if one flew from RDU to Southwest Virginia.

The day care worker testimony is so weak it's borderline insane to have entered it into a court of law. From everything reported in the news, the rest of the "evidence" is just as weak or weaker. This trial shouldn't be about trying to convict Jason Young, it should be an indictment on the police department for ignoring so much evidence that pointed to someone else.

Everyone on this board that seems to be ignoring the same "evidence" (as revealed in the press) the police have and are convinced JY did it, has no basis in fact for making that assumption.

Regarding the searches...this is my understanding...the witness explained that she had no way of telling when the searches were done or when or how they were deleted. Meaning, either they were manually deleted or the system did it. That doesn't mean the searches were necessarily done recently. The system autodelete was set up for 20 days but the searches would still show on the hard drive but with no way to tell when they were done. So it sounds like he could have done these in summer 2006 after the accident he witnessed. In JY's email to his former fiance, he states that he was pondering his life because he had recently witnessed a man dying in a car accident and wondered if there was anything else he could've done to help him. I think he said he had head wounds. In the first trial, JY testified that's why he made those searches online. I'm not saying this makes him innocent, just a possible explanation where there happens to be some evidence that verifies it's at least a possibilty.

Another question is what time did MY die.

She was wearing exercise clothes and the treadmill was on.

I doubt she was exercising on the tread mill at 2 AM when JY supposedly got back from Hillsville, VA.

Based on her exercising, that most likely puts the time of death between after when JY left and midnight at the latest.

I think the defendant COULD have done it, but he was getting what he wanted already so the prosecutors have not shown me reason that he either WANTED OR SHOULD have killed the victim to get something he wanted.

I also question MY's sister Meredith.

She was too calm on the 911 call for someone who just found her sister face down in her own blood after someone bashed her head in.

Most people would have been hysterical on the call finding what Meredith found.

Instead Meredith was extremely calm.

maybe...could have...probably...I would have...so many coincidences...apparently...why would he...I bet...he might have...not sure...

If my spouse were mysteriously murdered, I wonder what my computer would say about me? How could innocent things I've done be twisted into something evil? Look at your history and consider this.

**Wow, I bet MY's mother feels awful. **

I'm sure she does feel awful. She probably feels absolutely horrible that her son in law killed her daughter.

+++++From the sound of these emails...he would probably have been better off killing the MIL.... buford

OMG....are you for REAL? -dollibug

Kidding...relax...

The computer expert testified today that there is no way she could put a date or time to those search files or when they were removed, so they could have been searched on months before. She couldn't tell if the search files were manually deleted or systematically deleted based on the computer settings. shokkou

Good info - thanks

"**Based on personal experiences it's a 3 hour drive if nothing goes wrong.

Not if you're speeding. Plus there would be very little "snags" between around midnight and 6am movetomaui"

Seeing that the speed limit on I-40 drops to 55 and 60 through Greensboro with heavy enforcement by the Greensboro LEO's, that's one thing which will slow him down.

Also, on US-52 in Winston-Salem there has been ongoing bridge construction work which slows down the trip especially at night.

There's no evidence she was exercising that night. The treadmill motor was turned on, but the treadmill track wasn't moving. It's just as likely Jason used the treadmill before he left, and didn't turn off the motor switch.

So you think that little bits and/or pieces....put together will make EVIDENCE that JY is GUILTY....so just slap whatever you can find together....and sooner or later....you will get a WHOLE PUZZLE....BUT ....the pieces MUST FIT....before you can CONVICT......

BE CAREFUL OF THE WORDS YOU SPEAK or TWEET....cause you never know which ones you eat....

By the defendant being a YOUNG MALE and LIVING with the victim, statistically, I'd say he is the most likely suspect. Can't judge him by his age or sex or relationship. He's the only suspect. We know the accused had no history of physical violence against his wife, and the victim was NOT afraid of him and was still living with him in a stressed marriage (as many are).

We the people don't want him to get away with murder, and we don't want to send an innocent man to prison for life. We have to trust the jury to do its duty.

I don't think the man is a threat to me or mine, or you, unless you date him -- if he is left free, not found guilty.

I will accept the verdict tho without a confession from him or someone else, I'll always have a doubt about the case.

Our jury system is broke, I've been on two juries in the last six years and what I saw will shock you.

First you have 12 people who would rather be anywhere else judging you. There goal is to get it over with and get out of there.

In these two juries, those who didn't agree with the majority eventually voted with the majority for the trial to end so they could get along with their life.

I was on a 1st degree murder trial where the defendant admitted to murdering the victim. The trial was to determine manslaughter, 2nd degree murder, or 1st degree murder. We had been deliberating for two days, 8 of us wanted 1st degree and 4 wanted 2nd degree because they didn't think it was premeditated. At about 4:45 PM on Friday, I decided I didn't want to come back on Monday. Seeing that the 4 weren't budging, I got the 8 who wanted 1st degree to vote on 2nd degree so we could get out of there. Talk about justice.

**Based on her exercising, that most likely puts the time of death between after when JY left and midnight at the latest.**

Except for the coroner, you know the expert person, who estimated time of death to sometime between 2 am and 3am.

I'm not saying this makes him innocent, just a possible explanation where there happens to be some evidence that verifies it's at least a possibilty. odyssey24

So true. There are possible explanations for each one of the prosecutions pieces of evidence. And none of the alternate explanantions is a stretch.

"While she was hitting the doll, she said, 'Mommy's getting a spanking for biting,’”------- I think he had a hand in this, maybe got an old girlfriend to do the dirty work, but Jason didn't have bite marks on him. A terrible tragedy for all.

I also question MY's sister Meredith. She was too calm on the 911 call --- comment

We can question, but really, that's all, for people often show emotions of disbelief and lack of attachment at such unannounced news. Doesn't mean she is guilty of anything, or not. Just can't do more than question and then leave it at that.

I'm betting that the accused does not testify this time.

He most likely will walk on the criminal charges, but in civil court he will pay.

If this expert in this trial couldn't put a date on when Jason Young did the google search, how was the "expert" in the Brad Cooper trial able to definitively say when the google map search was done in Brad Cooper's trial.

Seems like a man is in jail because of a google search when this expert said it was impossible to date the google searches.

BE CAREFUL OF THE WORDS YOU SPEAK or TWEET....cause you never know which ones you eat....- dollibug

cute...you're a poet and you didn't even know it...

**If my spouse were mysteriously murdered, I wonder what my computer would say about me? How could innocent things I've done be twisted into something evil?*

Well, if you searched the exact way your wife happened to die it would be reason for concern. However, as for your porn searches, you're probably pretty safe, since JY also searched "free porn sites" and "gay bars in NYC."

++++Plus, the attacking doll had short blond hair.... movetomaui

OK....so I have been reading and a question for someone who might know....(not that this matters, but I am curious)... What did JY look like when MY was killed? Does anyone happen to know...did he have long hair, as I believe I read, or not?

Again....not that it matters....because I have 3 children and 3 grandchildren and I happen to know that child have great imaginations anyway....and you NEVER know what a child is thinking...period..

I guess some people have "crystal balls" and some don't....you think??????

I'm a little confused as to why some are looking sideways at the sister just because she didn't fly into an emotional tailspin, screaming and hysterical upon finding her sister dead.

First of all, it's quite possible that she knew she needed to keep herself together in front of Cassidy. Second of all, didn't we just hear testimony regarding one of the emails where JY stated something along the lines of Meredith being level headed?

+++++We can question, but really, that's all, for people often show emotions of disbelief and lack of attachment at such unannounced news. Doesn't mean she is guilty of anything, or not. Just can't do more than question and then leave it at that. djofraleigh

Good points here....as I seem to think this is what has been the entire story of this trial....as NO ONE KNOWS FOR SURE....

I keep hearing that statistically, the husband is the likely killer when a wife dies.

I bet these numbers are skewed because of LEO's and ADA's jump to the conclusion that the husband always does it.

Figures don't lie, but liars do figure.

So the daughter was 2 years old at the time of the crime. Now 5 years latern this 7 year-old should be able to articulate what she did or did not see, right? Or am I missing something..?

++++So true. There are possible explanations for each one of the prosecutions pieces of evidence. And none of the alternate explanantions is a stretch. Chill Out

REASONABLE DOUBT.....and a lot of it.....

*He most likely will walk on the criminal charges, but in civil court he will pay.**

He already lost the civil trial and must pay. Actually, he didn't even bother responding to the civil suit. Of course I'm not sure how much he will make in prison making license plates though.

"He most likely will walk on the criminal charges, but in civil court he will pay. - bubbba"

It always amazed me that a person can be acquitted of murder in criminal court and still be tried and convicted in civil court.

If he's not guilty of murder in criminal court, how can he be guilty in civil court.

Sounds like Double Jeopardy to me.

djofraleigh - If my spouse were mysteriously murdered, I wonder what my computer would say about me? How could innocent things I've done be twisted into something evil?

We'll if you also happened to be cheating with several other women, while having a history of being "wild" and doing things such as smashing windows out in your past, and just so happened to be away while your wife is brutally murdered and fail to cooperate with cops to actually "find a suspect" and witnesses claim they saw you that night among several other coincidences such as the hotel video being altered, there isn't much to twist when you apply common sense to this story.

*I also question MY's sister Meredith.**

Statistically, it is highly unlikely that a female committed this extremely brutal crime.

THE STATE has tried to PROVE something out of NOTHING....and all it has proved is a lot of REASONABLE DOUBT....it is their job to PROVE that JY is guilty....perhaps this is the law of karma....and what happened to BC....never know....what could have been/would have been/should have been....did NOT PAN OUT....

Here's another thing I simply can't reconcile in my head regarding JY's apparent motive... Obviously, being married to MY was not slowing him down in the least. He was clearly able to have MY as his wife/mother of his child and still maintain these affairs and partying with friends when he wanted. One could argue that MY being killed would greatly limit his freedom...i.e. he goes from having MY take primary care of his daughter to being a single dad with sole custody. That just goes against his motive to me. I would believe the state's theory more if it were a heat of the moment act of rage that resulted from one of their fights rather than a bloody premeditated murder that he has to drive from 6 hrs to and from VA to commit and then attempt to destroy any & all evidence. Just seems like a huge amount of strife for what he was getting out of it... Anyone else think about this?

There are lies, damned lies, and then there are statistics...

Yes...and "bigger"...he called her bigger...I think they acutally got along well...he was willing to let her be their mediator for counseling...

Long term memory storage and retrieval doesn't usually start until four or five from a developmental perspective.

maybe jason's search took less than 42 seconds?

store clerk - testimony unreliable and inconsistent due to clerk's memory problems and personality...

doll play - testimony could mean anything, or nothing, and could help or hurt either side -- meaningless to me, weakened case of prosecution

computer testimony - inconclusive, has NO meaning other than the aurora of scientific proof

Family grief - proves victim was loved and missed, but clouds the case more than clears things

Husband's cheating - proves he was casual about sex and that the marriage was strained, but also proves he wasn't TRAPPED by a possessive wife.

The drive from Virginia - was possible, but doesn't seemed planned to me to be for murder, and that would be the only reason to make the drive.

++++So the daughter was 2 years old at the time of the crime. Now 5 years latern this 7 year-old should be able to articulate what she did or did not see, right? Or am I missing something..? Friday

Too little, too late....perhaps someone should have thought about this a very longgggg time ago....when it first took place....do you remember what you did at age 2? Exactly....

**++++So true. There are possible explanations for each one of the prosecutions pieces of evidence. **

Yes, and every single piece of evidence can be pointed to JY. All of the evidence can be pointed to JY, but here is no one else in the world who all of the evidence can be point at.
