Why doesn't the legislature have committees to specifically look for waste like this before they start doing budget cuts???

Agreed! Good comment! sounds like someone stirring the pot to get some business for a friend. Just what WRAL reports about the politicians; kick backs for friends

...Certifications,Registrations and Maintenance alone are costing us taxpayers untold amounts. This is the kind of waste that is so frustrating!!! ...and the tab is still running.

A committee she says....Give me a break ! Committee is so no one individual can be held directly responsible- Hence it always gets politizied. Why not try this- Hold the Governor Responsible. Make so they can't say "that wasn't my decision, it was the commitee's recommendations. We have to many commitees. What we need is someone who is a driver, a leader, not a mouse. Someone who will take responsiblity-directly and is not politically correct.

I think we need a new auditor or someone who actually is working for the people of this state and not Bev and the Dems.

Tip of the iceberg. We have been told time and time again that the NC budget is cut to the bone. There are plenty of areas that need to be eliminated including this one.

Oh no, we can't cut these important expenditures. We should cut more state workers.

What is the matter? They were fully disclosing all business arrangements, just to make people aware.

As somebody who has grown up around pilots and aircraft, I am appalled that we keep all these aircraft sitting around waiting on the Governor. She makes trips that are wasteful and unjustifiable. She flew a Cessna Citation to Halifax County airport last year to announce the expansion of Reser's. For short hops, the King Air B200 they had would have been more efficient. For that matter, its at worst a 2 hour drive to Reser's. The drive to RDU and time to get flying probably took just as long and cost FAR more. These are the issues I have with some of the fleets utilization, or lack thereof.

We would be much better served to go with a model where we request a plane and only pay for the hours it is used. This would be a lot cheaper than paying for hanger space, pilots, maintenance, etc. for her to fly around a few hours a month. This is what many businesses do now to save money.
