senglish27529 - I don't think some cashiers have any idea what we are talking about sometimes, Stephanie! But if we can educate them on something they did not know about than the next customer that comes through won't be hassled about the same thing, hopefully. I'm sure it is overwhelming for the newer employees who are trying to learn so much.

Thanks again to everyone who posted your HT SD deals! I lived vicariously through you for this event. :-)

The coupon was the $1.50 for the King A. flour thanks for info.

  • jdouglas13 Sep 20, 2016

There were a few different versions of the KA flour coupons: a printable for $1.50 that doubles, a printable for $1.00 that doubles, and the $1.00 coupons from the newspaper insert that sadly says DND. Clayton was out of KA AP flour yesterday and only had bread flour, so I bought 3 of those only to find I already had 3 in my secret flour stash LOL. Cameron Village has the AP flour this morning, so I bought 3 of those. There were people restocking the shelves, and although the store was busy, it seemed fairly well stocked.

Clayton was out of several items. Total $104.01 out of pocket $53.37. My King Arthur didnt double caught it when I got home. In the cheese section the HT brand queso de pala cheddar cheese 8oz half moon were on clearance for $.99 cent. I used 25 coupons but 10 of them were $1.00 peelies that are dnd on the diet dr pepper six packs but that makes them $.88 cent a six pack. they were busy this morning.

Faye, your comment made me chuckle -- DH swears I turn into a "coupon nazi" when my knowledge of any store's coupon policy is called into question. I just kept on saying, "no, you can take all of them, really."

jdouglas13 - you did save a lot - especially for all that meat, dairy and produce! Thanks for sharing.

dianelucasrat - that is great news about your shopping trip! I love it when the store is stocked up on the super deals. Well done!

nheerdt - thanks for the Pop Secret deal!

Stephanie - I am glad he finally realized you were using the coupons correctly. Considering how nice you are, I am sure he was glad you were the customer in this situation vs someone who might not have been as understanding.

I have to confess - I have not yet been to HT for this event. I just have not had any time to drive the 20 minutes to get to the closest HT and have not been near one since last week. Not sure I'll get there today either since it's grocery deal list day. Enjoy your deals for me everyone!

NANEE LION re turkey hill gelato not ringing up on sale: Did you see the tag on the shelf or did it just not ring up on sale on your receipt? I had the same thing happen to me with the ice cream. It rang up regular price and I went to customer service before I left the store to have them check and I got it for free! If it doesn't ring up the sale price, the first 1 is free and any above 1 are rung up at the sale price.

I only used 20 coupons. Sorry rushing to get to church, but excited. LOL

I usually don't post my SD trips because I don't usually zero in on the free stuff -- only because it is very rarely things we use. This trip was no exception, however I wanted to post it in case we have any new couponers here, just to show how well Faye's methods of smart shopping work.

Total before coupons: $194.64. Out of pocket (OOP) $100.21. Savings $94.43 or 49%. OK, on the surface these are pretty average savings. However, of the $100.21 OOP, $62.16 was spent on fresh produce, meat, and dairy! Items for which there are rarely coupons.

I wanted to illustrate how, by shopping the sales and loss leaders, using coupons, and using your rainchecks strategically, you can really save a lot of money! :)
