I received an e-mail from SavingStar about them updating their terms of service. Of interest:

"If your SavingStar Account becomes Inactive, SavingStar will deduct a monthly Inactivity Fee of three dollars and ninety-nine cents ($3.99) from any Awards received in your SavingStar Account. Your SavingStar Account will be considered “Inactive” if, for a period of one hundred eighty (180) consecutive days, you have not activated an offer, received an Award, or withdrawn Awards from your SavingStar Account. When a sale item is out of stock, I take a photo with my smartphone, showing the shelf tag with sale price and if, feasible, part of the empty shelf. It's helpful to have the store ad with you, with items circled that you plan to buy. That way, CS doesn't have to stroll the aisles. And often, loss-leader items are on end caps nowhere near their normal location! It would be nice to have a sign to point shoppers in the right direction.

I quit doing the Taste and Tell because they never worked when I checked out and I had to go to CS. Sometimes CS had never heard of Taste and Tell and looked at me like I was trying to pull something over on them.

EI bound - thanks for the heads up! I did not get any early offers but hopefully others did.

Dr D - Yikes! Sounds like a rough shopping trip. And those Taste & Tell freebies are really not working well, are they?

I hear you, BARBIEDOLL1967! Usually HT's CS is speedy and polite, but I ended up shopping on Sat this weekend when they were really busy, and the lone CS person was slow as molasses. There were multiple issues with items not ringing up correctly on my receipt, and I kid you not, it took 30 minutes to get through CS. My Taste and Tell freebie also rang up at $3.99, but I had my confirmation e-mail to show for that correction. Two other items did not ring up at the sale price, and for each of those, the CS person ambled leisurely to the aisles to look at the shelf tags to verify the pricing. Meanwhile the frozen items are thawing, and the long line of customers are looking at their watches/phones. For rain checks, the CS person had to locate the items in the printed ad, to write down the size, even though these particular items only come in one size. On and on ... they did finally get everything right, but even I can get impatient when it takes so much longer than needed. :-|

barbiedoll1967 - thanks for the heads up! I'm sure they will make it right when you go back. Good luck!

Watch your Harris Teeter receipts! I stopped this morning at Harris Teeter and was having trouble with the self check out. Apparently one of the B2G3 cheese didn't ring up so it charged me full price for the 4 that did ring up. Plus the free taste & tell didn't come off and I was charged $3.99 for that one as well. Have to take the items back at lunch time and see what they will do. But I do have to say that Harris Teeter has the best customer service around.
