Wilson HT had asparagus today for $1.45 a pound
and their 93% ground beef was $2.99 a pound.

Actually I meant HT as the competitor that needs to be paying attention. Luvstoq - I also really like Sprouts and they've continued to have some good produce deals. One of my biggest beefs lately with HT is stocking issues - they seem to stay out of stock on some products for well over a week or two. (not just the week they are on sale)

I agree with the Kroger shopping getting better. I do a lot of my shopping there and Publix, also produce from Aldi's and Sprouts. HT is getting less and less of my $$'s as time goes by. Really upset with their policy changes and their continual higher prices - not much to keep me there now. Will go in for special e-vic or coupon deals, but that's about it, as they are fewer and fewer.

Frugal20 - Thank you for the reminder and tip for other Kroger shoppers. I got 146 fuel points. Because I bought alcohol, that cost has to be deducted from the total spent. Also, only the final price minus unallowable items (for fuel points) get doubled. Cost before savings is not what gets doubles. I have no clue if taxes are included/excluded for fuel points. Don't forget you can get an additional 50 fuel points once every 7 days for completing the "How are we doing" survey.

Ascherer - Kroger is doing 2X fuel points when you shop F-Sat-Sun...you just need the digital coupon or the coupon in the flyer. Too late for your Sunday shop, but you would've earned ~300 points yesterday, instead of 146. Just FYI

Grafted - I do not believe Food Lion will take Lidl coming into town (Cary) serious. Maybe in other areas Food Lion will. Lidl is a competitor with Aldi not Food Lion. I stayed at the same hotel last fall as the Lidl trainers/trainees. One of the trainers told me Lidl and Aldi are hard competitors back in Europe.

I shop Kroger too but I have to give Food Lion a shout out too. I buy a lot of organic produce (& other items) and they have really stepped up their game in that realm - good quality & good prices. And the new Shop & Earn program has really worked well for me too (plus digital coupons). I haven't shopped Food Lion much in years but they have gotten a lot more of my shopping $ lately. And Lidl is coming to town...wondering if the "competition" is taking all this seriously enough...?!

ascherer - I have to agree. I have been shopping at Kroger more often these days for produce, milk, eggs, yogurt, Buy 5 promo items and more. My main shop last week was at Kroger and I saved over 60% using sales, markdowns, coupons and Kroger digital coupons.

I have to give my Kroger a shout out. I went in last night and got 2 of the B5G$5off. My total was $91.83 and I saved $64.16. I bought meats, veggies, fruits, canned goods, TP (Charmin), 6pks Cokes, a case of beer, and a few other things. I only had 2 $1.00 coupons, one Friday Freebie, and 1 $1.00 ecoupon. Plus it got my 146 gas points and I will get 50 more once I do the survey.

    I do love my Kroger.
