Thanks HOLLYH515 for your input. It has been my experience with this particular drug that the generic does not work as well. I do take generics when possible.
Thanks JDOUGLAS13 for your input. This info might be of help in the future. Not old enough for Medicare yet. Falling apart it seems but, it's the mileage, not the years! LOL! Just counting my blessings to be above ground.

Gjan and senglish check with the pharmacist on fioricet/bupap. If your provider changes the dose of tylenol it may be cheaper, just FYI. There is a generic alternative--butalbital with tylenol but dose of tylenol is different.

    That's awesome Remer54!

Thanks for the RX info, GJan. Many pharmaceutical companies do offer discount programs. Also, check GoodRX.com if you don't qualify for the discount. If you have Medicare, you usually can't get the discounts. Finally, if you are really in a bind, there are sites, such as Patient Advocate Foundation, Needymeds, and others, that assist with grants for certain illnesses and medications. Those have been a godsend to us the last several years with DW's health issues.

GJAN1 -- Thanks for the info! I have a prescription for generic Fioricet, and have been informed that when my drug benefits change next year, this drug will no longer be covered. I'm pretty sure that I'll just do without it, or ask my dr for a replacement scrip that is covered, but your info is very helpful, knowing that I could slightly switch formulation and get it inexpensively.

EMS - Thanks for the pie post - got it!

FYI for anyone who may take expense medications. Many pharmaceutical companies offer discount card programs. I take Bupap for headaches (same as Fioricet except no caffeine).
Caffeine upsets my gastrointestinal system. The medication is usually $144. With the card I have been able to get it fo $25, but I reenrolled today and now it will only be $5 ( this is at CVS)! I have also enrolled to receive epipens for free in the past and Amitiza for a discount. So if you get sticker shock, don't pay too much or do without. Google your medication and see if they offer a discount card program.
