I completely agree. I was just telling DH I dont know what I'm going to do once NBS comes along, guess when he/she gets old enough ill have to make room on the counter for them too. I really love that she looks forward to it and its not something that I pressure her to do. I pick her up after work and her first question to me is "can we go make dinner?" I love it. I have so many pics on my phone, maybe I need to print some out......cant wait to see how she does with her easy bake oven!!!!

I agree with you GRANOFTWENTY. It is wonderful that Rae gets that time with you cooking/baking - it will be with her all her life ! Be sure to take pictures. I baked with my grandkids and lets just say Santa was the only one that could eat those cookies, but the kids really enjoyed it and we took pictures that are so special today. I love to hear what you and Rae do together. Enjoy - it will be harder after your new little one is born.

C&W boxes/bags used to be pink and white ? or blue & white ??
My "go- tos" are Kroger and Lowes foods - Food Lion's is not my favorite because it is usually too hard
    raesmom1612 - ha-ha-ha - I bet Baby Smith made you pay that night !!!
Maybe get Rae a shaker for the adobo ?? I used old spice bottles for some of my spices that pour too freely or have such a small shaker it clogs
It is wonderful that Rae gets that time with you cooking/baking - it will be with her all her life !

Granoftwenty - you didn't upset anyone with the sugar! All input and opinions are welcome. I know it's downright unSouthern to say it, but I REALLY don't like Dixie Crystals sugar. Any of it.

Raesmom, I can't remember the color of the C&W package -- it's been over 10 years now, but all their stuff was good, especially frozen veg.

Granoftwenty I appreciate the sugar insight. I really thought it was just me which is why I was asking. I know my taste buds are off a bit now, but this bag of sugar was from just a few months ago (beginning of the year) before NBS came along. I'm always glad to hear what everyone on the blog has to say :) thanks again for your (and everyone's) opinion.

I am loving all of the OOPS stories today. I am trying to let Rae help out on the kitchen a bit more then usual, so the other day we made chili and I let her add the seasonings. She added onion powder, garlic powder, some parsley flakes and of course some Adobo. Well the adobo is very free flowing......lets just say we met our salt intake for the week with that pot o' chili lol no matter what or how I tried to fix it.....all I tasted was salt!!! Maybe its time to take away some responsibilities, or just the adobo hahahaha.

I melted a thermometer in the turkey. I didn't realize it wasn't oven-proof. The dome over the numbers was a plastic disk (not glass) which melted and dribbled down the side of the bird.
MIL was in the next room. (this woman alphabetized her pantry)
I pulled the thermometer out and scraped off the melted plastic - QUICKLY!
then I pushed toothpicks into the area around where it had melted so I'd know what chunk to slice off and toss after the the cooking was done.

jdouglas - extra crunchy shrimp ! We DO need an OOPS blog !
My big oops - I cleaned the turkey and put it int eh oven.MIL asked were giblet packet was - I said there was not one that time . We checked the wrapper then the giant bird - it was so far up in that 22 lb bird and stuck so I had not felt it !! The water had run thru the bird just fine so I had no idea !! We got it out early and all turned out well
BEST GIFT from my MIL for a new bride :

C&W is a brand I recognize form my time on the west coast - I think many stores including Ralph's carried it ( relative of Kroger and now Harris Teeter ) .
