Dr D - I agree with you. It's really a shame that some HT locations are not issuing rain checks during SD anymore.

It may be worth the time if anyone's store won't write rain checks to call corporate to let them know how you feel about the new policy.

Thanks for the info, Faye and HEREMEAJ. I haven't seen (or maybe just haven't noticed) the signs about no rain checks being issued during SDs. HT's rain check policy has been lovely ... a consolation prize for getting to the store but then not finding what you were looking for on the shelf. Never have been one to get there at o'dark-thirty myself, but I don't really try that hard since there are lots of great deals remaining even by the time I get there. I just usually miss the really "hot" deals, and the rain checks have been a nice "next best thing" for me.

Dr D - that is a bizarre way to handle your coupons. You may want to call the store and talk to the manager about it. She clearly misunderstood how she should be handling coupons and it wasted a bunch of your time while your product was thawing. They really need to give her some additional training. Regarding rainchecks - the policy a few Sd events ago stated that they would not be writing rainchecks for out of stock items during SD. It was in the ad but none of the stores followed it. They are still taking rainchecks that you got in previous weeks with no problem, though. They just aren't supposed to write them during that week since so much sells out. Sounds like some stores are following the policy and some are not. I'll be sure to ask when I am shopping again on Saturday in Cary.

My understanding is that we can still USE the RC's during SD events but they will no longer issue them during an event. My checkout today was similar to what Dr D experienced, intense scrutiny and managers called over, manual over rides to make sure there was zero overage, etc. the person in front of me was denied many of her coupons, cashier called over manager who went thru her coupons and handed a hunk of them back to her and did not process them. After my scrutiny and checkout that same customer was in the middle of the floor still going thru her coupons and looking very unhappy. I hope this is not the "new normal" for our beloved HT stores. The pressure is ON from corporate according to a store manager there.

jdouglas13 - thanks for posting the code! I was in HT when it went live and could not make a separate post for it. I appreciate the help! And I am so glad you were able to update your SB app and get it to work. I was thrilled when it started working again. Really made it more time consuming to reach my goal each day without the app.

Vlynn- thanks for the mp3 freebies info! Sounds like a great selection of music.

heremeaj - sounds like they are cracking down on no more rainchecks during SD. I did not see those signs at the HT on Six Forks today. But I did speak with an employee who said they are seeing changes regarding how things work that are more in line with how Kroger does things. Will be very interesting to see what changes occur at the beginning of the year when they are supposed to roll out the full digital coupon system.

Yesterday I got several rain checks at Cameron village store. Today the very same CS person said they were told that starting today there were NO more RC's given during SD. New today was the large laminated official updated policy taped to the top of the counter of the CS desk.

Woohoo! Just followed the instructions to uninstall and reinstall SBTV and I am now back in business. :)))))))

I've noticed that HT Clayton has been a little weird about issuing rainchecks lately and how they're written up. No more just BOGO -- now they list the BOGO price as well, in addition to the number of "deals" or pairs you're allowed to get rather than just a simple quantity. That store is not the most coupon friendly or customer service oriented, so I just attributed their RC behavior to that. I sure hope they don't start messing with RCs. I have some I have been saving for just the right time and would hate for them to become invalid.

    Good for 5 SB! :)

Thanks Stephanie and Faye for the help with SB! I will give it a try. There was also something just now on their FB page about their SBTV/mobile problems that I didn't slow down enough to read. I've had a lot of luck the past few days with some high scoring surveys. As long as I hit the first goal, I'm happy.

I did both: used rain checks and received rain checks at HT this morning, so apparently whatever the new policy is, it's not rigidly applied at every store. My cashier did pull out every coupon that would have credited more than the full sale price of the item had it doubled at face value, which took her a long time while my frozen foods were thawing. Then she looked up the price of each item, wrote the value on the coupon, and called a manager over to override and type in the value for the coupon that would make the item free. I was puzzled about that, because I thought the register would automatically adjust the coupon doubling amount so that the item was free with no overage. This was not a new cashier. These coupons were not for items I was using rain checks on. One was the Barber Foods chicken and another was ID creamer. Anyone else encounter this?
