observant - Since the canned pumpkin is only .89 at Aldi and it takes no effort to open the can (vs the do it yourself pie pumpkins method) - I am all about the canned pumpkin! lol As far as cost - I don't know. How many pie pumpkins does it take to get 15 oz of cooked pumpkin? Anyone?

Advice : which is a better deal ??
buying canned pumpkin or buying the "pie" pumpkins and cooking it down myself ?
( pumpkins are currently BOGO at Kroger )
    THANKS !!

KLHJUNKMAIL, I have an app on my phone that stores all of my store cards in it so they cashier can scan it off my phone, but of course last night is the first time the app has ever crashed and it wouldn't work.

My other half took phone photos of his store cards and the store can scan or type in the number from the picture.
I'm planning to do the same- now that I've finally joined the 20th century (only 15 years late) and have a phone with a camera!

Not a deal or a question, but a shout out.... I went to the HT on Falls at Spring Forest last night. I got the few items I needed (including the great deal on Yoplaits) and when I got in line to check out I realized I didn't have my VIC card. I took it out of my purse the other day and forgot to put it back in. My phone number has never worked for it either. So as I frantically searched my purse again and again the manager walked over and said it was no problem and that he would take care of me. I had print outs of all my Evics and online coupons. He did rain checks to make my yogurt the right price and then used the store VIC card so I got the HT yogurts for free. He then manually entered my online coupon and my manufacturer coupon. It really meant a lot that he volunteered to help when I wasn't even expecting it. Goes to show that HT has the best customer service around!!!

    Faye - Thanks.

My big problem is we are all going out of town for Thanksgiving. Momma and my Aunt Jerrie keep saying they are not going to cook Thanksgiving dinner but I know them well enough to go ahead and plan for them to cook thus not buying the day before. These country girls will not enjoy Thanksgiving unless they cook. If I can have the bird in Momma's freezer when she gets home on Sunday, it will be an added bonus. If not at Thanksgiving at Christmas. Plus DH loves a whole chicken to cook. He even makes stock out of it.

Ascherer - here 's a great turkey calculator from butterball.com. You just type in the number of adults and kids and it tells you what size turkey you need. If you are serving 12 adults and 3 kids and you want leftovers, it says you need a 20 lb turkey.
http://www.butterball.com/how-tos/choose-a-turkeyThere will be additional turkey sales as we get closer to Thanksgiving. The 2 weeks before Thanksgiving is when you will find the lowest turkey prices for the year. The frozen turkey for .99 is a very good price for this time of year, but there will be offers for .79/lb and less with additional purchase starting in mid-November.

As Beths mentioned, the chicken price at .89/lb is VERY good. :-)

Beths - Thank you. There are HT SD prices starting today. Momma no longer has a HT at home. I think I am buying the Thanksgiving bird and driving it down this weekend.
