Faye - I always check dates and was shocked to find the expired items - live and learn I guess. items
I always pick up sale or clearance items to donate ( baby stuff, soups, canned veggies , pet foods).
I would never forgive myself if I knowingly gave a person/baby or animal (expired) food that made them sick .

observant- you are correct about the expired food. A store manager once told me that they do sell some expired product and if there was an issue that I could just return it for a refund. I try to remember to check dates on everything just to be safe though.

Baseball2Hockey - I am actually chatting about the State fair tomorrow on the morning segment.
Below is the link to the WRAL tent schedule and I will be at the tent on Friday, October 21 from 10:30 am - 11:30 with Sarah from Go Ask Mom. Good luck with the recipe contest this year! And thanks for the Chips ahoy offer info. :-)

do you know the State Fair appearance schedule for the WRAL crew? And will you be at the Fair as well? I am trying to come up with some recipes for the Food Competition again this year. At least that's my plan.

I went back to the store and told the manager almost everything on the tables was expired.
He said yes that was why they were on the clearance table .
I checked the FDA's website (wral will not allow the website link to be inserted here )
Expired food items can be sold after the expiration date except for baby formula .
I find this amazing with all the recalls and illnesses we are getting from food now days that has not expired .

Observant - i think they should know that they are selling items beyond expiration date. I had purchased a couple items before that were expired, and returned them to the store (HT) and they gave me full refund and replaced the item for free.

OBSERVANT - No, I don't believe stores intend to sell products after their expiration dates. When I've found such items and brought them to the attention of a store employee, they've thanked me and removed the item(s) immediately, saying someone must have not looked closely enough at the date.

Is it OK for a store to sell products that have expired ??
I was looking at the clearance tables this morning when I saw jars of cheese spread that had expired almost a month ago. baby foods & formula were also significantly past their expiration dates . Should I mention these to the store employees or manager ??

That's a wonderful price! I think Food Lion has Honeycrisp and Sweetango for $1.79 this week as well.
