I called Carlie C's today to ask about the $1.88 sale on family packs of ground beef. Turns out this $1.88/lb ground beef is 81/19!

I went to Carlie C's yesterday - their meat is beautiful! I was also told they do price matching!

Nakabi - I'll be really surprised if they don't grind the london broil! Regardless, I'm sure it's a pretty cut of beef!

I believe the change in the FL butcher grinding the meat is due to new regulations. Once the meat leaves the butcher area and goes to the case, it can not go back in for grinding. They have put more strict guidelines in place recently due to all of the scares lately. Ask your butcher if you can call ahead and have them grind what you need and hold it in the back for you to pick up. That way the meat never leaves the butcher area until you pick it up. That's the only thing I know to try.

kellington, I meant to add that I second ncveteranswife's recommendation for Mitchell's Academy. I used to get my hair colored there all the time, and they did a pretty good job. I've also used the Aveda school in Chapel Hill when I lived closer. I really liked them alot, and they have the most wonderful facials.

Let us know if Carlie C grinds the meat, Nakabi. I tried to charm the FL butcher into grinding a chuck roast for me the other day. No go. :( It was a pretty good price -- $2 something a pound. Guess I'll have to pull out the grinder myself since we are nearly out of burgers in the freezer.

LOL Faye, You definitely have to have a knack for dealing with kids to be a teacher! My sister is a head start teacher in NY and she has 14 3 year olds in her room for 7 hours a day!!! I sometimes have trouble with my nannying job and think OMG if I had more than 2 I couldn't do it!!!

For all the teachers out there: I just spent 3.5 hours volunteering at my daughters school and I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you do everyday! Whew - that was a looooong 3.5 hours! And these were really good kids! :-) Teaching adults is soooooo much easier!

Yes, Nakabi! AS wildfrenchrose pointed out, that is well within my price range. Anything less than $2.99/lb is a go for London broil these days. Now about the meat grinding - I don't know. I bet quemaster would know though. You could also give your closest Carlie C's a quick call and ask to speak to the meat department.
