smolder, that's a great idea to freeze the steak and marinade all together, and will definitely try that. When I freeze liquidy things, I like to use a second "insurance bag", but I can keep reusing them, so it's not a big expense or waste of bags.

wildfrenchrose - I often omit the slivered almonds which are so expensive. You can certainly use half the amount in the recipe and make up for it some extra sunflower seeds. The broccoli slaw does not go on sale very often but I have found it at ok prices at FL and WM. I buy generic sunflower seeds and of course only use EVOO that is on sale with coupon.

For those wanting the recipe for Broccoli Slaw with Ramen Noodles (that everyone in my family loves!), it can be found in the WRAL Recipe Database. The link for the database is on the front page of the smart shopper blog (Search WRAL Recipes on the right side of page). Search for Broccoli Slaw.

Here is the direct link to the recipe:

jdouglas13-I make up the marinade and put it in the bag with the steaks/chicken before I freeze it so when the time comes all I have to do is thaw and cook.

Beadhive, for $2.99, it might be worth going back to FL for the steak! I usually buy a few at that price, cut them in half, and freeze. Makes it easier to defrost and marinate. I may have my DW take a run up while the sale is on to get a couple for us.

ncveteranswife: thank you, and LOL :)

Final tip today: if you like gorgonzola cheese, buy it in the wedge (Stella is good, as is TJ) rather than in the cups. It is SO easy to grate. You can even just break it apart with a fork if you don't have a box grater. It is such a better value than the stuff they sell in the little plastic cups, and tastes way better too.

mrschizzy-I go to BJ's most weeks to get milk ($2.79/gal most weeks) and I often look around. I do not buy alot of other food there because I can usually get it cheaper on sale with a coupon elsewhere. The only meat I tend to get there is 93% lean hamburger for $3.49/lb- higher fat hamburger, hot dogs, stew beef, pork loin and chicken I get cheaper other places. I agree with libbyk- you can find good deals there when you can stack a BJ's coupon with multiple manufacture's coupons. I can almost always get cheaper veggies & fruit on sale or at Aldi's. I would probably not shop at BJ's if I had to "buy" the membership but my sister added me to her card & she loves it there because she does not coupon

Purchase centrum multivitamins flavor blast for$1.99 at walgreens!! They are regularly $8.99 - Walgreens has a store coupon for $4 off and I had a manuf coupon for $3 off!!!! Would have been cheaper if I had the 20% coupon - forgot to print it.....oh well!!!!

I went to CVS today and they had the Planters Nutrition snack packs on sale for 75% off. These retail for $8.39/box w/7 packs per box. I scored 2 boxes (the last 2) for $1.09 per box!! I believe this is my biggest savings yet and I'm soon to be right up there w/Faye.... :)
