FYI - just got an e-mail from a reader with this info about HT markdowns:
While shopping today at my local Harris Teeter, I noticed a ton of boxes labeled "Marked Down" (or something like that). The manager explained that they had just bought out several stores in South Carolina. They boxed up all the merchandise and sent it to there existing stores to sell. I told him I'd mention it to you. (He had no idea about your blog!) Some of the items were a really good deal, others weren't. Thought you might like to know about this. My local Harris Teeter is the Wake Forest location on Harris Road."

jdouglas13 - Great job on your savings and thanks for the prescription info for the Clayton store! :-)

A teeny brag, only because I'm so tickled with my totals for my shopping today. Plus, I've already made my wife, my father, and a friend sit through a game of "name that price" with me, and everyone else is done hearing about it. I know y'all understand, though! :)

125 oz A&H detergent, 1 Ritz cr@kers, 8 Swanson broth, 10 Barilla pasta, 10 shredded cheese, 10 lbs Angus london broil, 1 lb mushrooms, frozen lima beans, 5 lb Idaho potatoes, 10 lbs ground chuck, 3 fritos, 1/2 gallon half & half, an avocado, 30 oz Hellmanns mayo, 2 Craisins, 4 12-pks of Coke.

    Total retail $227.79, OOP $90.32, savings $137.47 or 60%.

Thanks for listening and getting it! :)

Faye, the Clayton one is. New, transferred, and refills. One of the few times that our not so great health is a plus!

I usually don't coupon at Walgreens because it confuses me, but I tried again today. The Peanut Butter Snicker squares are 2/$5 and I had 2 $1 coupons off each bag and there was a coupon in the store book that was $1 off fun-size Mars candy with the top size at 11.5 ounces. My bags were 11.5 ounces with a blue FUN SIZE banner across them. I went to check out (and even threw in a piece of candy to give the 3rd coupon something to hang on - something I remembered from long ago) and the store coupon would not come off. The manager told me (after separating a candy in the bag to show me the size) that the candy was too big and had to be the even smaller sizes. It WAS a small size and the bag said FUN SIZE. She told me I could not use the store coupon with the MQ - what? Then she said she would give me the refund, but had a funny smile on her face and shook her head the whole time like I was doing something wrong. What did I do wrong? I have no idea.

BlackFriday.com just posted Kmart's Thanksgiving Day Sale ad at http://blackfriday.com/stores/kmart/flyers/black-friday2.

It's 24 pages - the first 11 pages are Thanksgiving Day only sales, and the last 13 pages are dedicated to their 3-day sale that will run from Thursday through Saturday. Kmart stores will be open on Thanksgiving (Nov. 22) from 6 am to midnight, and then reopen again on Black Friday (Nov. 23) at 3 am (!).

jdouglas13 - I thought that was only for transferred prescriptions. Are they also doing the promo for new prescriptions?

  • jdouglas13 Oct 24, 2013

amandajeanda, if you have not filled an RX at HT, they are offering $20 per RX (at least the one in Clayton is). You have to sign up with them, and then they load the $20 credit on your VIC card.

dkg0502 - my buy price for canned pumpkin is $1 or less for the 15 oz cans. With the Libby's .50/1 coupons that I posted about last week, we should be able to get it for less than $1 with a good sale at HT or LF.

momac0813: The Mueller's pasta is on sale at Lowes Foods for $1. There are .55 and $1/2 coupons from the paper recently. Here are the deals listed in the Lowes FOods deals list to get it free or for .50 each depending on the coupons you have:

    Mueller’s Whole Grain Pasta, select, $1 - .55/1 coupon from 9/22 SS = FREE!

    Mueller’s pasta, select 16 oz, $1.00 - $1.00/2 coupon from 9/22 SS = .50 each

Here is the link to the Lowes Foods deals list posted yesterday with all the LF deals:
