losltp: My husband got his Military ID (he is retired) @ Seymour Johnson AFB, but I cannot remember where on base. Also, spouses can be issued a Military ID with proper documentation.

losltp: If your FIL goes to the VA for medical/dental, they can get a medical/dental ID card (my husband has one), but, that is the only time it is used. Otherwise, if your FIL is trying to get discounts/deals @ stores such as Lowe's Home Improvement they must show a Military ID (the only way your FIL can get one is if he is retired or disabled and it is issued on base). Hope this helps.

losltp try contacting the VA they might be able to help. It is odd because I friend of mine was able to get one, but when I called the Goldsboro office they said there was no such thing. I am sure the VA has something!

How would a former member of the military get a photo ID to use for discounts/special deals ??
All my FIL has is his DD214 and he does not want to carry that around with him all the time . He does not live near a base.
    Thanks !

This is great news, astamper and heremeaj. There's no way to tell when a particular HT is going to do their reset, so I really appreciate that we're able to post/share this type of info here with each other. (I missed this one at my local HT, and there was very little left at another local HT I was at last night, but will be stopping by the ones astamper mentioned on the way home tonight.) Thanks, again!

DianeNC, I bought a huge bag of Meow Mix at half price clearance from HT in the past few days, it was about 8 dollars. I had no Q but it was a good deal anyway. Did score TONS of free toothpaste and stuff for the troops and shoeboxes there as well. I just love FREE

This post is not about a deal but a comment. I took advantage of the $5.00 entry fee to the State Fair for veterans but not w/o being questioned. I had to surrender my military I.D. 25 years ago when I left the Air Force ... I don't have a pic military I.D.; I did present my DD214 however. The ticket agent let me in for $5.00 but she was iffy about it. Fair promoters need to understand that not every vet will still have a pic I.D. I did have a really good time at the fair though...check out the Cowgirl Wild West Show.

At hwy 55 and highhouse store - again toothpaste, seventh generation laundry products, cat food.
