    Nakabi, I don't see why you couldn't use the semolina for fresh pasta as long as it isn't too coarsely ground. I'd probably do a blend of 50-50 all purpose flour and semolina or durum flour. For the gnocchi I'd try the blend as well -- I've only made it with all purpose flour.

    I've been really wanting to get a pasta roller too. And if I make the cavatelli, you have an open invitation! :) That filling of ricotta with the spinach and mushrooms sounds wonderful! OK, I might have to get serious about this.

    jdouglas-I've never made fresh pasta. I actually was looking at a pasta roller at BB&T a few weeks ago, but didn't want to spend the money if I knew I wasn't going to be using it often. I have some semolina in the cupboard I had bought to make the gnocci so I think that could be used for the fresh pasta? I would think it would make it a bit more creamy, perhaps? This small Italian place in upstate NY used to make amazing cavatelli..filled with yummy ricotta and topped with spinach & mushrooms..oh yum! If you make the cavatelli, let me know! I'll make the sacrifice and come over for quality control :)

    chipper4800, thanks for the link to the Grands coupon! I'm hoping they have a cinnamon roll variety. Does anyone know who sells them?

    Nakabi, I agree about gnocchi with marinara sauce. Not my cup of tea either. I'm not fond of potatoes and tomatoes mixed together, although lots of people like french fries with ketchup, so you can't go by me.

    Have you ever made fresh pasta? I've been dying to try cavatelli. I've had the homemade and it was amazing.

    jdouglas-yes, it's similar to a ricer.
    butternut squash gnocci sounds good! I might have to try that sometime since I have some frozen squash. I've had the gnocci topped with the marinara sauce, but to me it's not as good..just a personal opinion of course :)

    I just had to post this: I won 76 swagbucks! I never get big swagbucks! These definitely beat the small amounts I normally get!!! whoohoo!!!

    Nakabi, not sure what a passatutto is... is it like a ricer? That is what I usually use to press the baked potato flesh through. I have not tried pumpkin gnocchi, but had intended to try butternut squash until I burned the squash beyond all recognition while roasting it the other night. Can you believe I forgot I had dinner in the over? Geez!

    What you do with the gnocchi is as varied as you want it to be. I sometimes do garlic/butter/parmesan/parsley. Last week I made a pot roast with brown gravy, and served the gnocchi with the gravy. Some folks like to put a tomato/spaghetti type sauce on it and bake it, I think topped with cheese? So you can really go with whatever appeals to you! :)

    I just got the local paper here and there was an insert...AND the Birds eye steamfresh coupons in it... I knew someone had mentioned some frozen veggies... ???
