Sewage overflows in Holly Springs
About 1,200 gallons of untreated waste spilled from a sewer line at Irving Parkway in Holly Springs Business Park on Friday morning, town officials said.
Posted — UpdatedHOLLY SPRINGS, N.C. — About 1,200 gallons of untreated waste spilled from a sewer line at Irving Parkway in Holly Springs Business Park on Friday morning, town officials said.
Officials said a blockage in the sewer line caused the waste to overflow out of a cleanout pipe for about an hour. The sewer line runs through woods between Irving and Green Oaks parkways in the business park.
The untreated waste entered an unnamed tributary of Utley Creek.
Holly Springs’ Public Utilities staff notified state officials of the spill and cleaned the affected areas.
