Severe thunderstorms move out of central NC, another round possible Friday
Another hot and humid day sparked thunderstorms across central North Carolina Thursday afternoon and evening.

"I don't think we will see any additional severe thunderstorm warnings, but we could still see some thunder, heavy rain and lightning overnight," WRAL meteorologist Mike Maze said.
Dozens of counties across the southern half of the state were under a National Weather Service heat advisory Friday, when the high temperature is forecast to be near 100 degrees. The added humidity could push heat index values toward 105 degrees.
Forecast highs from Friday are 96 in Raleigh and 98 in Fayetteville, storms will again be likely during the afternoon and evening.
"We do have the potential for some severe storms Friday night," Maze said. "These storms could have heavy rainfall, lightning strikes and large hail."
Weekend highs will be back near 100 degrees, 10 to 15 degrees above normal for late June.
