Posted July 8, 2015

Severe storms moved through central North Carolina Wednesday night, causing more than 3,200 power outages in Wake County.

Parts of Apex, Cary, Garner and Raleigh were without power as most central North Carolina counties were under a severe thunderstorm watch.

A lightning strike caused a house fire on the 1000 block of Liberty Lane in Fayetteville, firefighters said. No injuries were reported.

Downed trees were reported in Raleigh at the intersections of Lake Wheeler and Holly Springs roads and Penny Road and Holly Springs roads. Power lines were reported down on Smallwood Street.
