FRANKLINTON, N.C. — A Louisburg mother and her two children killed in a car crash Thanksgiving Eve will be remembered at a graveside service Sunday, a Wake Forest funeral home said.

Bright Funeral Home and Cremation Center is handling arrangements for Melissa Jo Bullock Godfrey and her two children, Georgia Leigh Godfrey, 5, and John Wyatt Godfrey, 4.

The Rev. Al Thomas will officiate the service at 3 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Franklinton.

The three died Wednesday night in a crash near N.C. Highway 96 in Franklinton, according to the state Highway Patrol.

Godfrey, 26, was driving home from a visit to her in-laws when her car swerved off Bruce Garner Road just before 10 p.m. She over-corrected into a ditch and her car flipped into a tree, troopers said.

Investigators said Saturday they had found no underlying cause of the wreck. A family friend called it a tragic "freak accident."
