Services held for murdered Benson woman

BENSON, N.C. — Services were held Saturday for a Benson woman found Oct. 8 murdered inside her home.

Family and friends attended the funeral of Annie Bynum, 68, at the Western Assembly Building in Newton Grove.

Deputies have charged her son, Tony Edward Bynum, with first-degree murder in her death. Authorities have not said how she died.

Annie Bynum lived alone in Benson for more than a decade, family members said. She is survived by her sons, Ed and Tony, five grandchildren, five sisters and two brothers.
