Sen. Brock to resign for appointment
Rowan Republican Senator Andrew Brock will resign his seat July 1st to accept an appointment to the state's Board of Review.
Posted — UpdatedSitting lawmakers, who are state employees, cannot also hold another full-time state job.
Legislators created the three-member Board of Review in the Division of Employment Security in 2011 to hear upper-level appeals regarding unemployment insurance. The board also has authority to decide cases on employer tax liability and employee classification.
Appointments bills do not require the governor's signature and are not eligible for a veto. They become law when passed by both chambers.
Brock, a political consultant, is in his eighth term in the Senate. He currently serves as a co-chairman of the Senate Finance Committee.
