Selma woman dies after motorcycle crash

Posted September 3, 2009

A Selma woman died Wednesday from injuries she suffered in a motorcycle accident, Clayton police said.

Kimberly Cockrell Lockhart, 40, of Buffalo Road, crashed Sunday on U.S. Highway 70 West Business near Regency Drive. She was taken by ambulance to WakeMed in Raleigh.

A preliminary investigation indicated the alcohol and excessive speed may have been factors in the crash, Clayton Police Officer Melissa Phillips said.

While I feel for her family and especailly her child, I have to wonder why her friends let her drive when she was so intoxicated. She wasnt alone that night but they were probably drunk too. A lose lose situation. The guilt I would feel if I were in their shoes would be unbelievable.

When are these want-a-be bikers going to learn that motorcycles are dangerous, especially for people with little to no experiance. And to drink alcohol and speed is asking for it. I feel sorry for her chlid.

One of these days (obviously, not today) people are going to learn that alcohol and asphalt DO NOT MIX very well. I hate that she had to die and leave a family behind, but that was her choice to drink, speed and drive.

Nowher family has to live with her decision

How could someone with a child make such a foolish decision?! People think they are invincible. I feel so sorry for her family. May she rest in peace.
