Security guard convicted of rape at Rocky Mount club

Posted November 17, 2011

— A security guard at a Rocky Mount nightclub has been convicted of raping a woman in 2009.

Kenneth Olson Norman, 43, of Tarboro, was convicted Wednesday of second-degree rape and second-degree sexual offense.

Rocky Mount police said that Norman sexually assaulted a 22-year-old woman in the parking lot of Club 252, 2720 N. Church St., where he worked, in October 2009.

He was sentenced to a minimum of nearly 15 years in prison. Once released, he'll have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

He will likely find out just how brutal rape can be while serving his prison time. From what I've heard, the hard core inmates don't care for rapists and child abusers.

People in Rocky Mount need to be more original with their club names. It's always "Club (fill in the blanks)".

Bob -- You are mistaken. Since 1994 and the structured sentencing act, an inmate must serve their minimum time regardless of good time or gain time earned. Therefore, he will do almost 15 years before being considered for release if that was in fact the minimum sentence handed down.
