Durham, N.C. — Duke University police said Tuesday they have captured a second suspect wanted in connection with two armed robberies last month near Duke Gardens.
Members of the U.S. Marshals Service Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested Denshawn S. Thompson, 20, shortly after 8 a.m. Tuesday at the Red Roof Inn on North Pointe Drive in Durham.
He was being held at the Durham County jail on a $3 million bond.
His cousin, 20-year-old Tamisha Thompson, was arrested by Durham police Aug. 1 during a traffic stop on North Roxboro Road. She was being held on a $2.5 million bond.
Both suspects are charged with four counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon and other crimes. The armed robberies occurred July 15 and July 25 near the Lewis Street entrance to the gardens.
Kyle Cavanaugh, vice president for administration at Duke, said in a statement that he appreciates the inter-agency cooperation that led to the arrests.
