HALIFAX, N.C. — A suspect in an August homicide in Weldon was apprehended early Friday on Long Island, authorities said.

Teddy Keith Anderson Jr., 18, was arrested at 5:45 a.m. in the town of Roosevelt, N.Y., and was being held in the Nassau County Correctional Center awaiting extradition to Halifax County.

Anderson is charged with first-degree murder, two counts of attempted murder, possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, sale of cocaine and delivering cocaine.

Keyeon Garner, 15, was walking with a group near 11th Avenue and Maple Street Extension in Weldon on Aug. 4 when two men came out of some woods and shot him and two people who were with him.

Semaj Tojuan Clanton, 19, of Garysburg, surrendered three days later and was charged in Garner's death.

Authorities said the Garner's shooting led to a retaliation shooting three hours later that killed Anderson's niece, 2-year-old Dyana Anderson, and wounded the girl's grandmother. Four men have been charged in that case.
