Second man arrested in robbery at high-stakes poker game in Raleigh
A second man has been arrested in connection with a robbery at a high-stakes poker game that turned into a fatal shooting, a Raleigh police spokesman said Wednesday.
Posted — UpdatedHenry Hobgood, 24, is charged with 11 counts of attempted robbery and 11 counts of conspiracy to commit robbery. He was taken to the Wake County jail.
Police say two men burst into a home on Sweetbriar Drive in July wearing masks and carrying guns in an attempt to rob several poker players. A struggle ensued and both intruders were shot.
Brandon Dwain Shelton, 28, was found dead in the backyard, search warrants state. Brian Matthew Onley, 23, was taken to WakeMed with a gunshot wound to his arm, and was arrested upon his release.
Onley faces 11 counts of armed robbery and 11 counts of conspiracy to commit armed robbery.
Police said that Hobgood was not at the home the night of the shooting, but that he had played poker there in the past.
