— The bodies of a woman and her son were found at the home they shared on Matt Hair Road in southeast Fayetteville Wednesday, and Cumberland County sheriff's deputies are investigating both deaths as homicides.

The victims were identified Wednesday evening as Yolanda Renee George, 57, and her son, Jamal Skinner, 35. Their bodies were sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Raleigh for autopsies. Neighbors said both were shot.

Authorities, however, have not said how they died or offered a possible suspect or motive.

Neighbor Jonathan Webb said another neighbor found George's body lying partially clothed behind a mobile home on the property next door shortly before 11 a.m.

Deputies and a SWAT team entered the home late Wednesday afternoon after obtaining a search warrant and, a short time later, the sheriff's office said a second body had been found.

Neighbor Darlene Vecchitto said she was shaken by the crime.

"I'm scared," she said. "My husband works at nighttime and I'm home by myself at night when he's at work. Now I'm afraid to even be home."

Fortunately WRAL decided update their article and remove picture of her open bedroom window and the time she goes to sleep each night.

"I bet she didn't even think about her comment being broadcasted on the news. "

That's probably right. I remember when that group of protestors broke into that business in Carrboro because they didn't want it sold to a developer, one of the protestors being interviewed by WRAL had a bandana covering his face to hide his identity, and they had the guy's name up on the screen the whole time lol.

Why would WRAL print her name? Why on earth would a news agency be so blind to the woman's safety?

It seems to me that it would be reasonable to expect WRAL to understand that they are placing the neighbor in potential danger by displaying her name and comments. The logical, and decent, thing would have then been to simply not include that information in the report.

I thought the same thing. I bet she didn't even think about her comment being broadcasted on the news. She probably just thought she was having a chat with the reporter. It will probably turn out to be a domestic dispute, or the son was involved with people he shouldn't have been, rather than a random crime. However, she would do well to assess the security and safety of her home, and make sure she has the means of self-defense (i.e. handgun or shotgun).

It doesn't seem like they should need to get a search warrant if there is a body lying right out in the yard. Isn't there some exception for an imminent possible threat?

It took them hours to get the warrant and enter the home after they found the first victim. Maybe the son was still alive inside and could have been saved if they went in right away.

Sorry for the family that lost their loved ones.

I'm sorry to hear about your father, but it does say that it was a woman's body that was found. May God be with you while you try to find your father.
