FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The bodies of a woman and her son were found at the home they shared on Matt Hair Road in southeast Fayetteville Wednesday, and Cumberland County sheriff's deputies are investigating both deaths as homicides.

The victims were identified Wednesday evening as Yolanda Renee George, 57, and her son, Jamal Skinner, 35. Their bodies were sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Raleigh for autopsies. Neighbors said both were shot.

Authorities, however, have not said how they died or offered a possible suspect or motive.

Neighbor Jonathan Webb said another neighbor found George's body lying partially clothed behind a mobile home on the property next door shortly before 11 a.m.

Deputies and a SWAT team entered the home late Wednesday afternoon after obtaining a search warrant and, a short time later, the sheriff's office said a second body had been found.

Neighbor Darlene Vecchitto said she was shaken by the crime.

"I'm scared," she said. "My husband works at nighttime and I'm home by myself at night when he's at work. Now I'm afraid to even be home."
