Raleigh, N.C. — Authorities are investigating the mysterious disappearance of a popular Raleigh disc jockey.
Rachid Smith, known as DJ Kool Sheed, was last seen leaving his home in Willow Spring on Sunday morning, when he told his wife he was going for a walk.
Friends and family on Tuesday were desperately searching for any clues about what happened to Smith, a former DJ for K97.5 FM in Raleigh who now works private events and promotions.
They have been sharing messages via social media, hoping anyone can help find him. The radio station also posted a notice about his disappearance on its website.
His wife, Celina Moorer-Smith, said it’s a red flag that her husband had no cash, no cellphone and no identification with him when he left home. The couple have been married for 19 years and have two young daughters.
“I found his license, his wallet in another pair of pants,” she said.
Investigators spent Tuesday talking with neighbors, trying to gather clues that will lead to Smith.
Moorer-Smith appealed to the public for help.
“Call someone and let them know he’s OK,” she said. “We just need to know if he’s all right.”
Smith was last seen wearing blue jeans, a gray sleeveless shirt and white sneakers with a red stripe. He also had a hoodie with him.
Anyone with information about him is asked to call the Wake County Sheriff's Office at 919-856-6900.
