— The search for a missing Stem woman is temporarily on hold because deer hunting season starts this weekend.

Volunteers on Saturday called off searching for Kelly Morris in public areas but may be back out on Sunday.

Kelly Morris was last seen on Sept. 3. The next day, police found her car, keys, purse and cell phone in an undeveloped subdivision, shortly after firefighters responded to a fire at her home, 3220 Tump Wilkins Road.

The Granville County sheriff has said her husband, Scott Morris, is a person of interest her disappearance.

Granville County sheriff's investigators are asking anyone with information about the fire or Morris' disappearance to contact them at 919-693-3213

    The title should read:
Search for Missing Granville Mom Enhanced Due to Deer Season

  • 007 - GranCo - Forever Nov 12, 2008

The hunters in Granville county will definately be on the lookout for anything out of the ordinary. You'd be surprised at how much time they spend in the woods before any hunting season. One missing person from Durham county was found a couple of years ago, near Tump Wilkins road, by hunters. Then the police were able to arrest and ultimately convict the murderer. Had it not been for the hunters in that case, she may not have been found for several more years. They go places that many of the searchers never get to. The story was poorly worded for the sake of the story. Hopefully the Currin family is aware that everyone in this area will be on the lookout. Prayers for her family.

This would be the perfect time to go searching for her. While not spotting deer they could be on the look out for her body. But it is really amazing how America places the importance on deer and not humans.

So they will not suspend deer season for a woman to be found?

This story makes it seem like hunters are the bad guys.

Puh-leaaaz. I agree with everyone. They have a good eye and I hope they find her.

As long as I can hunt, who cares.

Being involved in the search, the only reason for delaying the search was to ensure the safety of the searchers.
