— The search for an escaped inmate from western North Carolina has brought authorities to Raleigh.

Investigators said they are looking for clues in the Wakefield area that would lead them to Xavier Shaw, 45, who was sentenced to prison for kidnapping and robbery charges.

Last week, he escaped from an inmate crew that was building an addition to Alexander Correctional Institution in western North Carolina. He hid inside a truck at the work site, authorities said.

Shaw's sentence would've ended Aug. 30, but he has charges pending in Wake County in a January bank robbery.

Anyone who has seen him or has information on his whereabouts is asked to call local law enforcement or Alexander Correctional Institution at 828-632-1331.

"My brother is not violant" When you get home from work
you can give me all your money nah thats not violant
How much is this costing the state to find him

I also bet you're going to tell us that he is a victim and suffers from PTSD and that the courts should take into consideration his mental deficency?

I recall your brother robbing several convientant stores at gunpoint nonetheless. Guns used to cause fear and to intimidate = (equals) VIOLENCE!!!

Last time I checked GOD didn't run the NC Department of Corrections!!

That is why the media can easily play on your countenance in what they SAY that he did rather than the truth. He is getting his justice, not only for him, but also for all of the children who have been unjustly ruined by this society.

God let him out, gimme a break......did God send into a bank and put hardworking people who actually EARN their own money at risk as well. Your brother is a consumer, not a producer, in society and needs swift justice.

If you must know, God let him out...and he not only has family here that lives here NOW... he has family elsewhere. If you have any further questions, you can come see me at the below address if you are really interested. My brother is not violant, however, counsel yourself and see what you would do if you were in his shoes.

Some serious questions need to be asked is how an individual with a background of serious crimes AND pending charges could be held in an "honor grade" camp. WRAL, how about doing some investigative reporting and look into this issue?

When out of prison, he resides on Pleasant Union Church Road and he has family there now. One of the earlier articles provides the address.

I wish that they would give us some ideas about where his family and friends live in the area, so that we can be more informed. I saw where he was being brought into court a few months ago and he was obviously very angry, and very out of control. This man is dangerous! Who in their right mind let him out???

Somebody screwed up! Why is a guy with a serious "PENDING FELONY CHARGE" working on a minimum custody job assignment? More state money wasted utilizing man power to search for the fugitive. Boy O' Boy wouldn't I like to have some of that money going towards a salary increase. Keep these criminals locked up.
