— Cary police are working to reunite dozens of stolen power tools with their rightful owners.

Police said power tools such as saws, drills, sump pumps and landscaping equipment remain unclaimed.

“We would like to return these items to their rightful owners as soon as possible, which is why we’re asking anyone who may be missing tools to come forward,” said Cary police Capt. Dave Wulff.

Authorities recovered the tools in July during a search warrant of the residence for Carlos Fernandez Mejia, 33, of Lynnford Drive in Apex. Mejia was arrested and charged with crimes that occurred in Cary, including possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and maintaining a dwelling for sale. Additional charges are pending related to the stolen items.

Wulff said there were initially 119 unidentified tools, but police were able to return three tools to their owners.

If you believe your tools were stolen and may have been recovered, you can contact the Cary Police Department at (919) 380-2772 or (919) 319-4516.

I say take this fellow and the tools down to the border and have him help build the fence.

Unclaimed still? My guess is the tools that were stolen were all ready hot to begin with- that's why no one is claiming them-

I wish they find the idiots that were breaking into cars. My radio system was stolen. I will never forget the morning I woke up and went to my car with all my doors standing wide open, my dashboard and other things tore apart, my wires were either cut or snatched out of my vehicle. I felt so violated. My brother had put a system in my car as a gift to me. He put his hard earned money into it. That angered me to no avail. Cary police came out along w/ the crime scene folks. They took finger prints & so on, but I still have never heard anything else from them. I put alot of money in my car to be fixed afterwards. My air conditioned had to be fixed. My dashboard had to be fixed. My car still has no radio to this day. I don't care to have one. I just want the person(s) responsible to be punished. Oh yeah my window and doors were broken too. They tore the speakers called tweeters out of my door.
