Durham's Scrap Exchange will host its first New Year's Eve sleepover for kids on Dec. 31.

For ages 8 to 12, A Night at the Scrap Exchange will include group games and, as you can imagine, lots of creative activities, including art projects and a New Year's Treasure Map for participants to plan a creative journey in 2013. At midnight, they'll welcome 2013 with noisemakers and hats made using the Scrap Exchange's materials.

Admission to the overnight event is $90. There is a 10 percent discount for friends and siblings registering together. An evening snack and breakfast is included in the admission, along with all materials for the activities. Drop off is at 6:30 p.m., Dec. 31. It runs until 9 a.m., Jan. 1.

The Scrap Exchange is a creative reuse center in Durham that promotes the creative reuse of objects that normally would be headed for the landfill.

Space is limited and registration is required for the sleepover. For more information, call 919-213-1278 or email community@scrapexchange.org.
