Raleigh, N.C. — Chef Scott Crawford announced plans Tuesday to open a new restaurant in the old Pie Bird location on North Person Street.
Crawford & Son is expected to open this fall at 618 N. Person St. The 60 seat restaurant will serve up "clean, inspired, modern Southern cuisine," according to a press release.
"I am 100 percent committed to Raleigh, to provide for our thriving community. I’ve been overwhelmed by the love and support I’ve received here, and Raleigh has become our home. My family and I have chosen to stay here and form my own hospitality group; the first venture will be my neighborhood restaurant,” Crawford said.
It is the first venture under the chef's new Crawford Hospitality group. He is also consulting on projects and planning more of his own in downtown Raleigh, including a tavern concept on Nash Square.
Crawford, a four-time James Beard Foundation semi-finalist, announced in March that he would be leaving Standard Foods restaurant and grocery store after less than year in business.
