Scotland Neck man charged in sexting case

Posted February 12, 2014

Michael Eric Thomas

— Halifax County authorities said Wednesday that a Scotland Neck man has been arrested on a charge that he was sexting a 12-year-old girl.

Michael Eric Thomas, 21, is charged with disseminating obscenity to a minor under 13. He was released on a $5,000 bond.

A woman who frequently checks her daughter's cellular phone and social media account recently found that a man had sent a picture message of his genitals to the girl in early January, authorities said. Investigators found that the girl had met the man, identified as Thomas, at a church.

If at the age of 21, you think it is a good idea to send sexually explicit pictures to a 12 year old child, you probably need to have your head examined, WHILE you are spending 5 to 10 in the pokey. Why not also allow the mother, 10 minutes, in a sealed, windowless room, with no camera, and everyone's backs turned away?

Great job mom. I Wish all moms would keep closer tabs on their kids.

Wondering why a 12 year old would give a grown man her cell number. Kudos to mom for monitoring her child's activity! His bond should be higher.
