SCOTLAND NECK, N.C. — Voters in Scotland Neck chose a new mayor Tuesday in a repeat of the November election.

Challenger Raymond Watson beat incumbent Mayor James Mills.

In November's race, Mills won by one vote, Town Administrator Nancy Jackson said.

After Watson and Mills both alleged that provisional ballots were accepted from voters living outside the town limits, the State Board of Elections ordered the second election.

In Tuesday's second election, Watson had 51 percent of the vote and Mills received 49 percent.
