Raleigh, N.C. — A cold front that stalled in the southern counties kept the heavy rain away from the Triangle on Sunday, but the chances for rain will increase as Monday approaches.
WRAL meteorologist Aimee Wilmoth said hit and miss showers and thunderstorms will be possible overnight and rain may linger through the morning commute on Monday.
"I think everybody has a better chance for showers and storms heading into Monday, especially in the later part of the day," Wilmoth said.
Wilmoth said that thunderstorms with heavy rain and gusty winds are possible Monday evening.
Monday's highs will top out in the mid-to-upper 80s.
The chance for a storm continues through Wednesday with temperatures reaching 90 by mid-week.
"We just need to keep the rain gear handy. That cold front that has stalled over southern parts of the community is going to kind of waiver back and forth over the next couple of days," Wilmoth said.
