SBI: Missing Siler City man's death being treated as homicide

The remains of a Siler City man who was reported missing Oct. 4 were found Saturday evening, the State Bureau of Investigation said.

CHATHAM COUNTY, N.C. — The remains of a Siler City man who was reported missing Oct. 4 were found Saturday morning, the State Bureau of Investigation said.

Esau Abraham Brenes, 25, was last seen dropping off friends in his green Mini Cooper in Siler City, according to family members.

According to authorities, his body was found near the edge of the wood line on Siler City Snow Camp Road, just outside the city limit.

The investigation was a joint effort conducted by the Siler City Police Department, Chatham County Sheriff's Office and the State Bureau of Investigation.

Officials said the investigation is still ongoing, but it is being treated as a homicide.

No further information has been released. No arrests have been made.
