SBI investigating officer-involved shooting in Edgecombe County

The State Bureau of Investigation is looking into an officer-involved shooting involving a Edgecombe County deputy.

TARBORO, N.C. — The State Bureau of Investigation is looking into the fatal shooting of a man by an Edgecombe County deputy.

Deputy Darrick Winders was responding to a domestic dispute in Macclesfield about 4 p.m. Monday when a man identified as Kenneth Shawn Todd, 41, charged at him with a weapon, authorities office said.

"After failure to obey the officer's commands, the subject was shot and fatally wounded," the sheriff's office said in a statement.

The SBI investigation is standard in officer-involved shootings.
